Faith Matters

at St Francis Xavier School

Dear St Francis Xavier Families,

In Term 3, our students will be focusing on a Social Justice concept through their class Inquiry. This in turn will complement the faith teaching and learning as one of the aspects we will be exploring is the Catholic notion of service and for whom or what and how we choose to provide support. Throughout their primary school lives the children will be presented with opportunities to learn about various groups within the community/world who attend to the needs of others. E.g CARITAS - Project Compassion, St Vincent de Paul Organisation, The Salvation Army, The Guide Dogs Association, etc. Our intention is that by learning about these groups the children will be inspired to look beyond themselves, develop a greater sense of empathy and ultimately act upon this.

Several of our students who have gone onto John Paul College joined their Youth Ministry and do such great work within the Frankston area, in particular, providing food and company through their community food van.

John Paul College's 'Companion' van regularly provides company and refreshments to the Frankston community.

Thank you to the families who recently donated items to support John Paul College continue their efforts.

CONFIRMATION PREPARATION

Our Year 6 students will begin preparing for the Sacrament of Confirmation later this term.

The preparation, is in part, integrated into the Year 5/6 program. We currently have eight students enrolled to receive the sacrament.  If you would like your child prepared for Confirmation please get in touch with me as soon as possible.  Confirmation candidates must be baptised and have received the sacraments of Reconciliation and Eucharist.

God's blessings to you all,
