Inspiring Visit from Eco-Adventurer Samuel McLennan
When moored in Rhyll aboard a remarkable boat crafted entirely from rubbish collected from oceans, waterways, and coastlines, Samuel McLennan recently took time out of his journey to visit Our Lady Star of the Sea.
Samuel’s message—one of resilience, open-mindedness, and creative problem-solving—deeply resonated with students. With gentle humility and honesty about his personal journey, he captivated his audience and inspired thoughtful questions, reflection, and a sense of possibility.
His visit challenged students to become responsible stewards of our planet, starting with small, meaningful changes in their own lives. The impact of his message was powerfully underscored when, at the end of the presentation, Samuel quite literally gave a student the shirt off his back—a moving example of generosity and connection.
Students left the session energised, hopeful, and full of ideas about how they might make a difference right here on their home island of Millowl.
