Book Week 2025

Each year, schools and libraries across Australia celebrate Children’s Book Week, a national event dedicated to promoting a love of reading and quality Australian literature for young people. It is a time to highlight the importance of books and storytelling in children’s lives and to foster imagination, curiosity, and a lifelong love of learning.
At Sacred Heart, Book Week is a chance for students to connect with books in fun and meaningful ways. It brings the whole school community together to celebrate creativity, literacy, and the joy of reading.

Competitions
As part of our Book Week celebrations, students are invited to take part in a range of fun activities, including designing a postcard inspired by their favourite book, entering a colouring competition, and guessing how many book worms are in the jar. The guessing competition is a gold coin entry, with some great prizes up for grabs.
We will also have prizes for our Book Fair, with a lucky door prize and overall highest spend across the school.
As part of our Book Week celebrations, our Prep - Year 3 students were treated to a fun and engaging live performance by Perform Education. This high energy show brought the Children’s Book Week theme to life through music, storytelling, and drama, inspiring a love of reading in a creative and memorable way.
Our Year 4-6 students had a visit from a 'real life author'. We were thrilled to welcome George Ivanoff, award-winning author of the You Choose series and many other exciting books for young readers. George captivated students with his engaging storytelling, quirky humour, and insights into the writing process.
These activities are a wonderful way to encourage creativity and celebrate a love of reading throughout the week. We look forward to celebrating the magic of books with our students and families during this special week.
