Principal News

Dear Families and Friends,
A sincere thank you to our wonderful staff and supportive families for your time and commitment during this week’s Parent Teacher Interviews.
These conversations are such a valuable opportunity to strengthen the partnership between home and school and to ensure every child is supported in their learning journey. We’re grateful for the strong sense of collaboration that continues to define our Sacred Heart community. The feedback from all quarters has been overwhelmingly positive. Thank you!
NETWORK MEETING
On Thursday, we were also thrilled to welcome and host 40 colleagues at Sacred Heart for a network meeting. Gathering in our newly completed multipurpose STEM space and showcasing our refurbished learning environments was a real highlight, and, dare I say, a proud moment for our team.
Our visitors were incredibly impressed by the presentation of the school, the warm welcome from staff, the engagement of our students, and the overall learning culture on display. We are doing so many wonderful things at Sacred Heart, and having the opportunity to highlight ‘best practice’ in action within these stunning spaces is a privilege, and a reflection of the incredible work of our entire team. Congratulations all from a VERY proud principal!
A MUST READ
Please make sure you take the time to read through all the news sections in this week’s newsletter, there’s so much to celebrate from all aspects of our Sacred Heart community!
We are truly blessed to have such passionate and dedicated leaders who invest so deeply in the life of our school. Their updates capture the incredible learning, growth, and joy happening in every corner of Sacred Heart.
Enjoy the read!
100 Days Smarter! 🎉
Last week we celebrated a major milestone in the school journey of our Prep students – 100 Days of School!
It was a joy to see our youngest learners embrace the day with such joy, many arriving dressed as 100-year-olds with walking sticks, glasses, cardigans, grey wigs and all! Their sense of fun lit up the school and reminded us all just how far they’ve come in such a short time.
A special thank you to our amazing Prep teaching team and support staff for the care and creativity that went into organising such a memorable celebration. From engaging activities to classroom displays and everything in between, their efforts made the day so special.
We also extend our sincere thanks to our wonderful Prep families. Your support in helping your children settle into school life has been instrumental in their smooth and successful start to school life. We simply could not ask for a better investment. It really does take a village, and the partnership between home and school has been shining brighter than ever in 2025.
Congratulations to our Preps, you're now officially 100 days smarter!
Wild West
Congratulations to our incredible P&F and families on a ‘wildly’ successful night at our annual parent social event, The Wild West Game Show!
From Dolly Parton lookalikes to a posse of cowboys and cowgirls, the evening was filled with plenty of laughter and great entertainment. We’re also relieved (and mildly surprised) to report that Patricia, our resident cow, survived the night, although she may be a little shaken after a few unexpected rides and the occasional lasso attempt!
A huge thank you to our amazing P&F team for not only organising such a fantastic event but also for securing so many brilliant prizes from generous sponsors throughout our community. A special shout-out to Louisa for planting the seed and helping bring this fabulous idea to life.
Finally, thank you to the dedicated families who returned the hall in immaculate condition by Monday. Your support and care never go unnoticed.
The Gallery Returns! 🎨
After a brief hiatus during our refurbishment program, we are absolutely thrilled to see Ms Hyslop’s Gallery back up and proudly showcasing the stunning artwork of our students.
Now adorning our corridor walls once again, this vibrant display is a true celebration of creativity, colour, and imagination of our talented students and art teacher. A reflection of one of the best art programs around, the quality and originality of the pieces on show simply have to be seen to be believed.
A huge thank you to Ms Hyslop for her passion and dedication for what is a spectacular return to these spaces!
SCHOOL RULES
A BIG thank you to Miss Wood for the stunning new School Rules display. This was a collaborative project led by Miss Wood, our Wellbeing Leader, alongside student representatives from every year level. The result is a beautiful, student display that not only brightens our space but will also serve as a meaningful focal point and anchor for students in the years ahead.
It’s a wonderful reflection of our shared values and the importance we place on wellbeing at Sacred Heart.
Staffing News
An Aussie (Officially!) Among Us 🇦🇺☘️
After a sneaky Aussie trivia quiz at last week’s assembly, courtesy of Miss Maloney, it seems the extra practice may have paid off! We’re absolutely thrilled to share that our amazing Prep teacher officially passed her Australian citizenship test on Monday.
How lucky are we to now have another Aussie/Irish staff member as part of the Sacred Heart family? Congratulations, Miss Maloney, we couldn’t be prouder!
Apparently when you become an Aussie citizen you have to wear a matching outfit.

LITTLE GEMS💎
Don’t blame me for winding up your children before hometime, that honour goes to Ms Tench, who led a spontaneous and joy-filled dance session during break time this Friday!
Laughter, music, and some impressive moves filled the yard as students joined in with great enthusiasm. With this surprise hit, the battle for “Queen of the Kids” among staff may have just taken a new turn!
Thanks, Ms Tench, for bringing such fun and energy to our day.
How impressive is this writing from Tom B? Not even a broken arm can stop this lad, writing with his non-dominant hand.
Check out this writing. Hard to believe this is Yr.3.
Alba, or mini Miss Maloney was pretty excited to sit in her teacher's chair with a coffee cup, just like her teacher. A piture tells a thousand stories.
How lovely it was to drop into Prep M this week and see the children confidently and independently reading their decodable books. The focus and growing confidence on display were a joy to witness.
They even had a special visitor pop in to listen to a few readers, who proudly showcased their developing skills. Well done, Prep M!
Congratulations to our Year 6 9s football team for their fantastic efforts at the Southern Regional Finals this week. While they narrowly missed out on adding more silverware to the trophy cabinet, they were outstanding on the day.
A big thank you to our supportive families and to our coach, Mr Jaynes, for his inspiring influence. Despite jokingly questioning whether he’d keep his coaching gig after the finals, we’re pleased to report that, much like Michael Voss at the Blues, he’s secured his spot for another season!
Not bad from our Prep superstar, Owen.
Harry said he is aiming to get at least one award and photo in the newsletter each year while at Sacred Heart. Two from two ain't bad for this Yr.1 student.
And finally...
As we close out another fantastic week at Sacred Heart, a huge thank you to our amazing staff, students, and families for everything you contribute to our community. From classroom achievements to joyful moments in the yard, and even the occasional visit to the leadership offices. There has been so much to celebrate.
It’s the shared energy, care, and commitment of our entire community that continues to make Sacred Heart such a special place to learn, grow, and belong.
Wishing everyone a restful weekend, we can’t wait to do it all again next week!
On a personal note, I’m especially looking forward to welcoming my eldest daughter home from her European travels on Friday evening.
With much pride and gratitude,
Simon C
