Learning and Teaching

This week in LS2
This term, our LS2 senior students have begun a literature study of the classic poem I Wandered Lonely as a Cloud by William Wordsworth.
This rich and imaginative poem has provided a wonderful opportunity for students to explore how poets use imagery to express emotions and create vivid pictures in the reader’s mind. Together, we’ve discussed how Wordsworth describes the natural beauty of daffodils and how it lifts the poet’s mood.
Students have enjoyed visualising the scenes, identifying powerful language, and responding with their own interpretations of what the poem means to them.
Below are some student responses showing how they connected with the imagery in the poem.

Celebrating 100 Days of School in Prep! 🎉
Last Friday, the 1st of August, our Prep students celebrated a very exciting milestone – 100 Days of School in Prep! The day was filled with joy, creativity, and a whole lot of “100” themed fun, marking the incredible growth and learning our youngest students have achieved in their first year of school.
The morning kicked off with big smiles and proud families as students posed for photos with their families and teachers. The school was buzzing with excitement, especially with all the amazing outfits on display! Some students came dressed as 100-year-old versions of themselves, while others wore creative costumes and accessories that proudly showcased the number 100.
From there, the Preps gathered in the community room for a fun-filled warm-up session and a dance party to get their bodies moving and their spirits high. Laughter and music filled the air as students danced together, setting the tone for a day of celebration.
Back in their classrooms, the children took part in a range of 100 Days of Prep activities. They enjoyed listening to a special picture book about 100 days of school, sparking conversations about all the amazing things they’ve learned so far. Students also created 100 Days hats, decorated with stickers, pom-poms, and drawings, each representing their journey so far. Maths activities brought the theme to life, with students counting, sorting, and building using 100 objects in fun and engaging ways.
To finish off this wonderful day, everyone gathered for a special assembly. Families were invited to join as we watched a PowerPoint presentation showcasing the memorable moments and achievements from the year so far. The Preps proudly performed a song, showing just how much confidence and teamwork they’ve built over the term. Each student was then presented with a certificate to congratulate them on this important milestone.
It was a day full of fun, celebration, smiles, and pride. Our Preps have grown in leaps and bounds, and we couldn’t be prouder of all they’ve accomplished in their first 100 days of school!
Congratulations 2025 Prep Students! 🎓

What's Happening in Clinic 1 Mathematics? Angles All Around! 📐
This week, our Grade 3 students have been diving into the world of angles! We've been learning that an angle isn't just a shape, but a measure of a turn formed when two lines meet at a point. To make this abstract idea more concrete, the children became hands-on learners and created their very own angle detectors!
Using their artistic skills, they built a simple yet effective tool to help them identify and compare different types of angles. They learned to recognise a right angle, which is a perfect corner, and then explored angles that were bigger than a right angle and smaller than a right angle.
The students were excited to use their new tools to find examples of angles everywhere—from the corners of a desk to the hands on a clock. They've been A-M-A-Z-I-N-G at identifying quarter, half, and three-quarter turns, which helps them understand how angles relate to movement and rotation. This hands-on activity has been a great success, and we're so proud of their hard work and understanding!

Feast of Mary of the Cross MacKillop
We're so happy to share that LS 3 Juniors and Seniors celebrated a beautiful Mass today to honor the Feast of Mary of the Cross MacKillop! It was a special opportunity for our students to reflect on the life and legacy of Australia's first saint, and to be inspired by her courage and dedication to helping others.
The children participated wonderfully, with reverence and joy. It was a perfect way to celebrate this important day in our Catholic faith.
Thank you for your continued support.
