From the Principal

When Mary saw families living on the margins without access to education, she set up a school to teach children herself — regardless of their situation. She and the Sisters of St Joseph went wherever the need was greatest. And despite facing enormous challenges, they continued to walk with people every step of the way.

“Let us show love in our acts.”– St Mary MacKillop

This August, let’s walk in Mary’s footsteps. Like Mary, let’s be fierce in the face of adversity. Let’s be fair and act when we see injustice. Let’s give love to those we encounter each day.

School Improvement - School Review

Our staff have used the School Improvement Framework (SIF) Rubric  to self-reflect and assess our school progress across the 5 Spheres. We have submitted evidence for each sphere across the 16 capabilities. This evidence is extensive and includes policies, programs, planning documents, annual assessment data such as NAPLAN, and survey data such as MACSSIS. All stakeholders, students, parents and staff have an opportunity to inform our School Improvement through participation in the annual MACSSIS survey.

This week we have commenced our School Improvement Review. Our reviewer is Stephen Russell. On Wednesday morning, Stephen visited our school to commence the validation process. Next week Stephen will spend two days at our school to speak with staff, students, parent representatives and school leaders. The dialogue and visit to the school is an important part of the review process. In October, Stephen will return to the school to work together with representatives from MACS and our Leadership Team to develop our 2026-2029 School Improvement Plan. We look forward to working  towards the MACS 2030 strategic plan and the key priorities for our school  that will form our key focus over the next 4 years.

Staff News

This week was Aoife's last week as she commences maternity leave. We thank Aoife for all her work with us this year in LS1 juniors. We look forward to hearing about the birth of her second child in September.

We are delighted to announce that  Aubrey Gogulanath has been appointed to teach Home Group MA in LS1 on Wednesdays and Thursdays for the remainder of this year.

Aubrey has worked in the space this year and knows the children and the school very well. We welcome Aubrey as a member of staff and wish her the very best. I am sure you will make her feel very welcome.

Preparing for 2026

We are commencing the process of making arrangements for 2026, which also includes budgeting and staffing. It is important that if your child is not returning in 2026 that you notify the school in writing. We encourage you to do this now or as soon as possible.
