Principal's Report

Dear Parents and Guardians,
I hope you had a great break and were able to keep warm. We are certainly in the depths of Winter, the most favourite season for some, but not so much for others.
Ms Block’s Baby:
Ms Block, who taught year 3/4B at the start of the year, had her baby on June 13th. His name is Harvey and everyone is doing well.
Mr Egan’s Baby:
Mr Egan, Assistant Principal Wellbeing and Engagement, is taking the first 6-7 weeks of term 3 as leave to support his young family, after the recent birth of his second child, a boy, born on Saturday 19th July. We wish him all the best as they settle in as a family of four.
Mrs Cvitkovic Temporary Return:
A few families will know Mrs Cvitkovic, known by many as Mrs CV, when she was an Assistant Principal here until the end of 2021. She has returned to us on a temporary basis, to fill a void that will occur when Mrs Mills begins her family leave in the middle of the term. For those who do not know Mrs Cvitkovic, she has a very strong knowledge of curriculum and will work closely with the Prep – 2 teams to ensure we deliver the best teaching and learning to our students. Welcome back Kathy. We are pleased to have you back temporarily.
3/4 Camp:
I am writing this newsletter from camp, as a group of students are setting up for breakfast. It’s been a lot of fun so far, with changes to plan based on the weather. We were supposed to do a beach walk on our arrival, however due to the forecast of rain, we stayed at camp and completed a range of activities in our groups. Tractor ride around the farm, obstacle course – where the children returned covered in mud so straight into the showers, bush cooking – damper of course, and an adventure game of tag. We also cancelled the night walk due to the weather, but enjoyed a movie, inside, with the fire going, instead! Some children found it difficult to settle and although their cabins quietened with the sound of heavy rain on the tin roof, a couple of cabins became restless about an hour later. But otherwise, all good!
NAPLAN Results for Years 3 and 5:
The parent copy of the 2025 NAPLAN results have arrived and the office is busily placing them in envelopes. The plan is that they will be sent home with students tomorrow – UNLESS parents would like to collect them from the office. If you would like to collect them yourself, please contact the office before lunchtime on Friday on 9743 5818.
Student Information Forms:
It is important to keep contact details, including emergencies, up to date in case we need to contact you for any reason. We do this twice a year, where we send home your child’s information. We ask you to check it carefully and return it to school, regardless of whether there are changes or not. The Occupation information is also very important to note if this has changed as this can affect our funding. Please send these back as soon as possible.
Canteen Update:
As of the 4th August 2025 our school canteen will only operate from a Tuesday to Friday resulting in it being closed on Monday’s. Our Canteen lady Jane does a remarkable job servicing our children’s needs in this area and we support this decision to close Monday’s moving forward from August 4th 2025.
Please ensure children have a packed lunch on Monday’s as of the 4th August 2025.
We appreciate your support on this.
