Principal's Post
TERM 2: 2026 - Week 6
I open this fortnight's post, with a sincere acknowledgement of Renee Lee, Linda Appiah-Kubi, Lisa Marty and Catherine Dwyer, along with the wider WPA team, who put together the recent Trivia Night. By all accounts, it was both a really enjoyable evening, but also highly successful in terms of fundraising. Early counts indicate that the team have raised between $10,000 - $11,000 in profit, which is incredible. I believe a certain NBA player's (and ex-Wembley student) signed jersey might even have featured!
This week we said farewell to Tegan Brice, classroom teacher of 1D, as she heads off on Maternity Leave. Tegan has been an incredible asset to the school during her time with us, and we very much hope to see her back through our gates in time. She has promised that she will keep us updated and no-doubt will visit the class, once she has welcome her little one to the world. We know that the students of 1D are sad to see her go, but they also welcomed Abby Fletcher as their new teacher for the remainder of the year. Abby undertook a careful handover with Tegan, and has been able to join the grade for a number of days already - finally, stepping into the class full-time from Monday 15th June.
Thank you to our Year 3 teaching team, who took our students on a fun and adventure packed camp to Phillip Island. I know that they will provide an update in our final newsletter of the term, including stories about the flying foxes, pedal cards, giant swing and, of course, the penguin parade!
I also wanted to share a quick note to congratulate our students on a successful off-site evacuation practise today. For many of our junior students, this is the first time that they have undertaken an off-site drill - something that can feel overwhelming. However, all students completed the practise with great success and displayed responsible behaviours throughout. Well done everyone!
We're really looking forward to the final 2 weeks of the term - there are still so many things on the horizon, before we get to the holidays!
