Athletics Day

Our first College Athletics Carnival was fun for all involved. The day was made possible by the fantastic support and teamwork of all school staff, along with the enthusiasm of our students, who threw themselves into the events and proudly represented their houses. Competition was fierce throughout the day, with Barramaeel eventually taking out the overall title! A fantastic effort from Bemin, who finished second, with Ngayuk rounding out the top three. Congratulations to all students who competed, supported their teammates and helped make our very first Athletics Carnival such a memorable day!

Athletics day was a great experience for the Year 7’s. All the way up to 100m to 800m track race to vortex, high jump, long jump, shot put, and discus. All the year 7’s enjoyed all the track and field events and were competing for first, second and even third place. Every single person participated in every event and earned house points for their own house. All houses sang their own chant. They were all creative and wonderful. The food truck had amazing food and people would go seconds and even thirds for hot chips.

On Wednesday 9th September we had Athletics day! First, we had our track events, 800m, 800m, 400m, 200m, 100m. It was incredible to see everyone cheering each other on! Then we split into our classes and we did field events; vortex, shotput, discuss, long jump and high jump. We had a delicious lunch provided by the Sage & Mustard food truck. After our food had settled, we moved on to relay. Each house had 5 teams, 2 x females, 2 x males and 1 mixed. Staff had two teams also. My overall favourite event was vortex. Thank you to Mr. Moore and Mr. Tavita for organising this event.
