Year 9

A positive and productive Term 2!

We hope everyone enjoyed a relaxing and refreshing break. It has been fantastic to welcome our students back and see them return with such positivity and enthusiasm for the new term.

The term has already begun with plenty of excitement, starting with our Course Counselling Day on Tuesday, 21 July. Thank you to all of the students and families who attended and actively participated in the important process of selecting Year 10 electives for 2027. We greatly appreciate your continued support and partnership in helping our students plan for their future.

During the school holidays, David participated in two FIRST Robotics competitions: DDU in Sydney and MRT in Melbourne. These events provided him with the opportunity to collaborate with his team to design, build, test, and compete with their robot.

Across both competitions, David demonstrated outstanding dedication, teamwork, and resilience. He worked collaboratively with his teammates, embraced challenges with a positive attitude, and contributed to the team's success throughout the events.

Their efforts were recognised with the Innovation Award at the DDU competition in Sydney, followed by an impressive second-place finish at the MRT competition in Melbourne.

Congratulations to David and his team on these fantastic achievements. We look forward to seeing what they accomplish next.

Important Dates

  • Book Week is fast approaching and will be celebrated from 22–28 August. This year's national theme, "Symphony of Stories," celebrates the way stories, characters, and voices come together to create a rich, inspiring, and memorable reading experience. It reminds us that every book has its own unique part to play in fostering imagination, curiosity, and a lifelong love of reading.
  • Year 9 City Experience – Term 4, Week 6

Our Year 9 students will be participating in the annual City Experience during Term 4, Week 6. To accommodate all students, the excursion will run across two groups: Group 1: Monday 9 November and Tuesday 10 November

Group 2: Wednesday 11 November and Thursday 12 November

Further information, including itineraries, permission forms, and other important details, will be shared with families closer to the excursion dates.

As we continue through the term, we kindly ask families to support our school expectations by ensuring students arrive in the correct school uniform each day. Wearing the uniform with pride helps foster a positive and inclusive school community.

A reminder also that mobile phones must remain switched off and securely stored in students' lockers throughout the school day. Keeping phones away during learning time helps minimise distractions, supports student wellbeing, and allows everyone to stay focused and engaged in the classroom.

Thank you for your ongoing support in helping us maintain a positive learning environment for all students.
