VCE VM Students Building Skills for the Future

As we move closer to the end of the school year, our Year 11 and 12 VCE Vocational Major students have been busy developing valuable life and workplace skills that will help prepare us for life after school.

One of the highlights this term was completing a Financial Literacy course. This gave us a better understanding of how to manage our money responsibly, including budgeting, saving, banking, and making informed financial decisions. These are important skills that will benefit us as we transition into further education, apprenticeships, training, or employment.

Both Year 11 and Year 12 students have also completed nationally recognised Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) and Food Handling courses. These qualifications provide practical knowledge and open up employment opportunities in the hospitality industry, giving students an extra advantage when applying for casual or part-time work.

Another valuable experience was our two-week Work Experience placement towards the end of Term 2. This allowed students to explore different industries, develop workplace skills, build confidence, and gain first-hand experience in a professional environment. It was a fantastic opportunity to make connections with employers while learning what is expected in the workplace.

For our Year 12 students, it is hard to believe that we have just one final full term of secondary school remaining. As we begin the final stretch of our VCE VM journey, we are looking forward to finishing the year strongly, celebrating our achievements, and preparing for the exciting opportunities that lie ahead.

It has been a busy and rewarding year so far, and we are proud of everything our VCE VM students have accomplished. 

We look forward to making the most of our final months together and continuing to build the skills and experiences that will support our future success.
