Local Holiday Fun and Raising Healthy Minds

Hi everyone,

Last holidays I listed some activities and events that were happening in the area over the school holidays and this made is so much easier for many families to pick and choose from. To end Term 2, I thought another list was overdue!

❄️ Winter Holiday Fun:

  • DIY Animal Track Stamps – Create unique prints using handmade stamps.
  • Educreatures Wildlife Encounter – Get up close with native animals.
  • NAIDOC Week Crafts – Celebrate Indigenous culture through art.
  • Kawaii Felt Plushies – Craft adorable felt creations.
  • Minecraft Mob Magnets – Design pixelated characters with melty beads.
  • Adopt a Puppy Workshop – Assemble a plush puppy and accessories.
  • Chess Tournament – Test your skills in a friendly competition.

🏀 Youth Events These ativities are designed for ages 10–17 (bookings required)

  • 3v3 Basketball Tournament – Compete in teams at MARC Stadium on Friday, July 11.
  • Creative Workshops – Participate in sewing, cooking, and art sessions.
  • Excursions – Join trips to the National Gallery of Victoria, Bounce trampoline park, and Sunshine Roller Skating Centre.

Raising Healthy Minds

A Helpful App for Families

Another great ways to support your child’s wellbeing is through the free Raising Healthy Minds app. Developed by experts, with input from parents, this app is designed to support families in raising confident, resilient children.

The app offers:

  • Quick-read articles, videos, and animations
  • Tips on topics like managing big emotions, building routines, and making friends
  • Age-specific content for children aged 0–12
  • Easy-to-use tools that support emotional wellbeing at home

If you download the app I'd love to hear any feedback about it.

Wishing all our Ballan families a restful and joy-filled holiday break. We’ll see you back for Term 3, ready for more learning and fun!
