Principal's News

Dear Parents and Carers,
LIFE IS BEAUTIFUL
What can change in someone's life if they wear the right glasses? It makes a huge difference for these children: life suddenly becomes beautiful.
I invite you to watch and reflect upon the video. Life is beautiful
- What did you see?
- Did it evoke any feelings in you?
- Do you wear the right 'glasses' to view others?
- In the video, we see some resistance to putting on the glasses. What might cause resistance to seeing the world differently?
- Prejudiced, indifferent, egotistical...which glasses do you find yourself looking through more frequently than you would like?
- Which glasses did Jesus wear? How do you think he viewed others, based on his interactions with them?
When we reflect on the above questions, we are well placed to be more supportive, empathetic, or at least open to another’s perspective. Lord knows the world our children are walking into could use more tolerance and kindness.
ASSESSMENT CONVERSATIONS
It has been great seeing so many parents coming in for Assessment Conversations over the last few days. As stated last week, Assessment Conversations are a great way to catch up with the child’s teacher and it has been so nice to see the children having the opportunity to proudly show their parents what they have been working on and to talk through their goals with themselves and the teacher.
CONFIDENT KIDS
Next term, Paul Maddern, Nicole Lynch, and I will run the Confident Kids program for some children in Years 2 and 3. Confident Kids is a research-based program that assists children in strengthening social skills, resilience, and friendships through games and modelling / practising new skills. Children participating in the program often show improvements in focus, self-esteem, and friendships. By learning strategies to manage strong emotions and develop social skills, they are better equipped to navigate challenges in and outside the classroom.
This program is a proactive step in supporting your child’s emotional and social development in a safe, supportive environment.
LAST DAY OF TERM ARRANGEMENTS- Friday 4 July
The final day of Term 2 will be next Friday, 4 July. On this day, we will celebrate the Feast of the Sacred Heart with a liturgy at 9.00am. All parents and carers are warmly invited to join us for this special occasion which will be held in our Multi-purpose Room.
Following the liturgy, we will present our Winter Appeal donations to St Vincent de Paul. A sincere thank you to all families who have contributed so generously.
To mark the end of term, each child will enjoy a hot dog lunch with a drink provided. There will be no lunch orders on this day. The school day will finish at the time of 2.25pm.
We will also be holding our Jump Rope for Heart event between recess and lunch. Students will rotate through eight fun skipping activities in their class groups, with our Year 6 leaders taking the lead in running each station.
It promises to be a wonderful day of celebration, community, and fun!
Kind regards,
Karl Dwyer
