Congratulations to Year 11/12 students on their UTAS exam performance
Our dedicated Year 11 and 12 UCP Music students, Lucy McKenna, Grace Munday, Grace Willis and Arabella Butterworth-Barry recently presented an outstanding mid-year performance exam at the Salon at The Hedberg. Performing for a supportive panel of University Lecturers, each student showcased their dedication, creativity and musical growth.
We’re excited to share that their next performance will be held in October at the Ian Potter Recital Hall at The Hedberg, this time as a public event, and our next Live at St Peter’s will be in September at St Mary’s College. Stay tuned and come along to support our rising stars!
Year 5 join Young Tasmania Sings at Festival of Voices
This week, our Year 5 students have had the exciting opportunity to rehearse for two days as part of the Young Tasmania Sings combined voices concert, a highlight of the annual Festival of Voices.
Led by renowned Australian composer and music educator Annie Kwok, the students will perform alongside pianist Mr Michael Power and the Tasmanian Youth Orchestra in what promises to be a truly inspiring concert.
We are incredibly grateful to the class teachers and learning support officers for their support throughout the week, and to Mr Scott Weston and Mrs Mary Heferen-Faulkner for their outstanding preparation of the students and the repertoire they have been learning this semester.
Audience tickets are available online via the link here. Please join us in celebrating and supporting our young music makers!

Farewell, exchange students, and welcome back to Prof Keller
This term, we’ve had the pleasure of hosting five wonderful exchange students from northern Italy: Sveva, Pietro, Laura, Giulia and Linda. They’ve shared their stories, perspectives and a love of learning with our community, enriching classrooms and conversations alike.
We’re grateful for the opportunity to engage in such meaningful cultural exchange and wish them all the best as they return to Italy over the holidays.
In November, four Year 10 students from St Mary’s College who hosted students here in Hobart will complete the exchange by staying with their Italian friends. Looking ahead to 2026, our Study Tour students will visit the hometowns and schools of these exchange students as part of an exciting and immersive cultural experience.
Keep an eye on our socials—we’ll be officially farewelling our Italian exchange students soon!
