END OF TERM WRAP UP

T2 2025

Term 2 has continued to include wonderful learning opportunities and activities. Our staff are dedicated to offering the best opportunities for our students, emphasising self-regulation through our Interoception approach, enhancing literacy and numeracy skills, and nurturing creativity and curiosity across all areas of learning and incorporating excursions and incursion to enhance the learning experiences.

Highlights for this Term include:

  • Celebrating National Reconciliation Week to acknowledge our First Nations people. Students learned the significance of this week for all Australian people and participated in a range of learning activities with their Buddy class. We were also fortunate to have Boori Monty Prior tell interactive stories from his published books. These stories told of his boyhood experiences and growing up and the lessons he learned.
  • A number of our students participated in School Sports SA (SAPSASSA) events including – Cross Country, Athletics and Rugby. Additionally, our Specialist Sports students had the wonderful opportunity to attend the Rugby Wheelchair World Challenge event.
  • Our Year 3/ 4 students attended the wonderful Dream Big Children’s Festival at the State Theatre venue, the students even taught ‘plants to play music!’ A highlight was the ‘junk parts’ play activity where they worked in teams with junk materials to be creative and curious and create spaces such as spaceships, cafes, houses etc. Watch this space as the engagement of the children has inspired us to create our own ‘junk parts’ play space on the oval in the future!
  • The Castle Unit classes had a day trip to Monarto Safari Zoo where they saw many animals in more natural environments. They loved seeing the giraffes, lions, meerkats, chimps and many others! This visit inspired the R/1 classes to create their own Monarto Zoo Bus Imagination Station as part of their creative play space!
  • The Year 5/6 students were fortunate this week to culminate their learning unit of the book ‘Storm Boy,’ with a day visit to Goolwa where we were fortunate to have local Indigenous Leader Mark Koolmatrie attend and teach us about some of the native bush tucker plants that the Storm Boy characters would have used! We also loved seeing the seals of the end of the barrage sun-baking and frolicking in their natural habitat.
  • World Cultures Program (alternative to French) – Our students have continued to learn about different countries, traditions, culture and language from around the world. This program is creating curiosity about their own and others worlds and will culminate with our World Cultures Day this Friday. All families are invited to attend our short assembly on Friday morning to launch this day of celebration acknowledging our learning about a number of different cultures so far this year!

Thank you to our community for your continued support for our wonderful school.

Wishing you all a safe and happy holiday break! Look forward to seeing you all on Monday 21 July!!

Kind regards,

Ms Sally
