Secondary Sub-school Update – Term 2 Highlights

It has been a busy and productive term across the Secondary Sub-school, with students engaging in a wide range of exciting, hands-on learning opportunities both inside and outside the classroom.

A number of students have had the chance to attend excursions to Broadmeadows Library, with a focus on literacy skills and community engagement. Work experience has also continued, with students participating in meaningful placements at Enable. This program gives students the opportunity to dismantle computers and electronic devices, providing real-world experience with tools, electronics and workplace safety procedures.

Room 22 and Room 26 students have been participating in Hands on Learning, where they’ve recently begun creating a large mosaic art project. Alongside this creative venture, students are also learning essential Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) procedures while using tools and working in shared spaces.

Meanwhile, students in Room 21 and Room 27 have recommenced the school canteen. They’ve been busy preparing a menu that includes nachos, jacket potatoes and spaghetti bolognaise. The canteen offers students valuable experience in hospitality, food preparation, customer service and teamwork.

Interschool sport is back this term with a focus on AFL football. Students have been developing their skills, building fitness and working collaboratively.

We’re incredibly proud of the hard work and progress across the sub-school this term and look forward to more exciting learning experiences in Semester 2.
