Middle Sub School News

Amelia Frantz - Middle Sub School Leader
Hello families and carers,
During Weeks 9 and 10, students have participated in fun hands on learning experiences. Maths activities have been a highlight, with students using resources including: unifix cubes to measure classroom length, find the difference and make arrays, balance scales to measure and compare mass, 3D shapes with folding nets, magnetic shapes to make 3D shapes, pattern tiles to revise fractions, MAB blocks to revise partitioning, counters to practice the four operations including animals, transparent circles, stacking circles and Vertiblocks to make patterns and 3D figures. Students have really enjoyed lunch clubs and loved playing with Lego in Week 9.
All middle students have received permission forms for We Rock the Spectrum, walking to Gavin Park in Jacana and walking around the footpath of the school. These excursions aim to assist students to develop their travel and road safety skills whilst being active in the process. When permission forms are provided, please sign and return them in the communication books so that students can attend. Some classes have organised additional excursions, please sign and return these as well.
Next Thursday, 3 July is House Colours Disco. Families and carers are invited to attend the session for the students class. Please check with the teacher for the class times. It will be great for as many families and carers to attend as possible.
Have an enjoyable weekend and Week 11,
Amelia
ROOM 10
Room 10 Roundup – What We’ve Been Up To
Over the past month, Room 10 have been buzzing with exciting, hands-on learning experiences. In mathematics, students explored measurement through playful activities—comparing object weights, examining capacity with containers, and measuring the length and width of classroom items. These collaborative tasks kept the students engaged as they discovered the practical side of math.
Our cooking sessions were another highlight, where students prepared pizzas, nachos, and wraps—nurturing important life skills while having fun in the kitchen. In literacy, we focused on reading and writing CVC and CVCC words, helping students grow in confidence and develop foundational reading skills.
We also made great use of the OT room, where students engaged in physical play to support their gross motor skills and self-regulation.
A sincere thank you to our sub-school leader, Amelia, for her constant support, thoughtful guidance, and inspiring contributions. Her dedication has made a meaningful impact in our classroom this month.
