Victorian Curriculum 2.0:
The Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority (VCAA) recently published its revised Mathematics and English curriculum, as part of the Victorian Curriculum 2.0 update. All Victorian government schools will begin using the Mathematics Curriculum 2.0 in 2025; therefore, Whittlesea Primary School will implement the revised Mathematics curriculum for the upcoming school reports, Semester 1, 2025. In addition to this, Whittlesea Primary School decided that, due to the required reporting changes, rather than revisiting this in 2026, we have also implemented the English 2.0 curriculum as part of this reporting cycle.
On your child's previous report, the teacher reported against the 3 strands of the Achievement Standard for Mathematics (Number & Algebra, Measurement& Geometry, and Statistics & Probability). Under the Mathematics curriculum 2.0, your child’s teacher will report against the Achievement Standard, but will now only provide a single, aggregated score. English 2.0 will appear essentially unchanged on the report, as it will still be reported in the modes of Reading & Viewing, Writing, and Speaking & Listening. However, there are some key changes to the Achievement Standards that teachers have considered when allocating Curriculum 2.0 scores.
With the change to the Achievement Standards reported against, and since this is the first time you are receiving a report under the updated 2.0 curriculum, it will only display achievement and not progress. Due to this, you will not be able to see any growth (dotted lines) on this report for English and Mathematics. Growth measures will be included in the Semester 2, 2025 reports. We will also be providing an annotated report that we hope will also support your understanding of your child’s report. This will be attached to the Compass post next week.
If you have any further queries about your child’s report, please don’t hesitate to contact your child’s classroom teacher or our Curriculum team leaders, Mr Kirkright or Mr Dupuy.
