Learning News
This fortnight, our students across the school have been deeply engaged in exploring various aspects of our faith. From our youngest learners discovering the significance of the Eucharist as a special meal and Jesus' care for all, to Year 2 understanding Jesus as the light of the world and how we can share that light. Our Year 3/4 students have been comprehensively preparing for and understanding the Eucharist, reflecting on Christ's presence within it. Meanwhile, Stage 3 has been delving into the presence of the Holy Spirit throughout creation and within our community, past and present. It has been inspiring to witness the thoughtful engagement and growing understanding of our students in their religious education this fortnight.

KIndergarten and Year 1 children have commenced a unit of work that emphasises the Eucharist as a central celebration in the Catholic community. The children have explored different types of celebrations and demonstrated their understanding that special meals are parts of celebrations. This idea was linked to the special meal at Mass - the Eucharist. The children responded to the “Feeding of the Five Thousand’ and recognised that Jesus cares for all people and helps us to care for others too. There has been lots of fun with party food and props to recreate Gospel stories.

Year 2
We are deepening our understanding about how we share in the life of Christ. This week we learnt about the Paschal Candle, also called the Easter Candle. The Paschal Candle symbolises Jesus, the light of the world. We have been reflecting on the symbolism of light and how Jesus is the light who shows us the way. We have identified ways we can share the light of Christ with others in our daily lives, as we let our lights shine for all to see.

Year 3/4
Our students have been engaging in a comprehensive unit focused on understanding the Eucharist and its celebration during Mass. This unit aims to provide them with a deeper comprehension of this foundational sacrament. Students have been actively preparing, exploring the key components of the liturgy and discerning the various ways Christ is present within it. We would like to wish Hannah, Arthur, Kahlani, Alex, Thea, Oliver, Poppy, Yolanda Alice and Evie all the best as they prepare for First Holy Communion next Saturday 28th of June.

Stage 3
Stage 3 have been working on the Pentecost unit in Religion and celebrating the presence of the Holy Spirit. In this unit we are exploring the presence of the Spirit of God in all creation, in the early Christian community, in individuals and the community today. We have been learning about how the people of Israel were in exile in Babylon, but the presence of the Holy Spirit gave them hope and strength.
Some very thoughtful learnings Stage 3, well done!

Isaiah 42: 1-4
In this scripture, the people were in exile. Exile means to banish or expel from one’s own country or home.
They were exiled from their country, had been persecuted and felt sad, rejected and lonely. They were waiting patiently for the servant to forgive their sins and bring peace to the world once more.

Isaiah 42: 1-4
In this scripture, the people were in exile. Exile means to banish or expel from one’s own country or home.
They were exiled from their country, had been persecuted and felt betrayed, unappreciated and upset. They were waiting patiently for the servant Jesus to tell them what to do next.
