Message from the Principal

Mrs Bronwyn Underwood

Dear Parents and Carers,

Congratulations to St Michael's students who participated with enthusiasm at our annual Athletics Carnival held this week. Every child present on the day participated in a range of events, displaying great sportsmanship and team spirit. Thankyou to Ms Emma Martin for organising the day and to all the wonderful parents, carers, grandparents and friends who were able to be present and cheer the children on. Thankyou to our friends at Manilla Central High for once again allowing us to use their facilities. A special mention to Taylor and Harrison Pettit and Robyn Skelton for marking the track for the children to run. Our fabulous P&F organised lunch plus the ever popular lolly tent and many parents helped with field events. Overall, a great community event.

Term 2 is quickly coming to a close. Teaching staff members are writing Semester One Reports which will become available on the COMPASS portal on Friday July 4. From Monday, June 23, Parent/Teacher Interviews can be booked using the COMPASS portal. Interviews will be held on Tuesday July 22 commencing at 11.45 a.m. Please remember that July 21 and July 22 are Pupil Free Days for St Michael's students.

A reminder that all uniform items are available from the school, including the track pants worn during the cooler months on sport day - polyester, lined navy track pants. Jewellery is be kept to a minimum - sleepers or studs as earrings, a watch, medi alert bracelet if applicable. There is no need for any other jewellery at school. We do have a No Hat No Play rule. There are a variety of school hats for families to choose from - this was a deliberate move to ensure that children keep their hats on while outside.

St Michael's NAIDOC celebrations will be held on Wednesday July 23, commencing at 10.00 a.m. Thankyou to Aboriginal Education Workers, Ashlen Rae and Renae Catlett  and Inclusion Support Teacher Mrs Amanda McNair for organising a morning of fabulous activities. This will be the first day of school for our students in Term 3 and they are invited to wear red, black, yellow, blue, green or white (or any combination) for the day. The NAIDOC touch footy game between Yr 5/6 students and interested adults will kick off at 1.00 p.m. A sausage sizzle lunch will be provided for students and visitors. We look forward to a wonderful day.

I look forward to celebrating with the students who will make their First Communion on Saturday June 28 at St Michael's Parish Mass commencing at 5.00 p.m. Thankyou to Miss Cronin for preparing the students for this special time in the children's Sacramental life.

Enjoy a great weekend,

Bronwyn
