Report For VIC Footy
My journey to join the Victorian U12 girls football team started off on the 9th of May 2025 at the first tryout in Malvern which started off with 250 girls from across Metropolitan and Regional Victoria. We played 3 matches, rotating in several positions. The next week we received the notification that 98 girls will proceed to the next level and I was fortunate to be one of them. The next round of tryouts was in South Yarra at Melbourne High School on the 25th of May where we played 2 matches, and again rotating positions. On Tuesday the 27th of May we received an email stating 48 girls will go through to the next round and again I was fortunate to be included. We were instructed to attend the final round on the 6th of June at Box Hill Football Club where we played one full match against the remaining 48 girls. Each round got harder and harder and I was unsure whether I had performed well enough to make the final team. This was a great experience for me having to play with more experienced girls from all over Victoria. On the 17th of June my mum had received the final email stating that I was lucky enough to be selected to represent the Victorian Girls U12 football team making the final 23 girls. When I found out my heart filled up with excitement, especially when it was time to order the Victorian uniform which added to my excitement. All of these tryouts were a little far away but definitely worth it.
On the 3rd of August my mum and I will be travelling to Maroochydore to attend the opening ceremony and will be there for a week competing against all Australian States. I am looking forward to travelling to Queensland, having hot weather, and making many new friends. We will be attending the closing ceremony and returning home on the 10th of August.
This is an amazing opportunity that I am very grateful for.
