Miss Loren

4th of July 2025

Dear Families,

We have officially reached the halfway point of 2025 and what a fantastic year of learning it has been so far! Over the past two weeks, many of our year levels have held expos, and it has been an absolute joy to watch our students proudly present their home learning to peers and families.

I would like to share with the community a piece of feedback we received at KPS after we had some Inclusion Outreach Coaches (IOCs) tour our school, looking at our inclusive practices a couple of weeks ago. What you’ve all created at Keelonith is phenomenal! It was really inspiring to see and is everything us IOC’s are all about come to life! So many schools “play-at” being student centred and inclusive but it was obvious to us that all of you there at Keelonith really live it. I am so proud of our teachers, ES, allied health professionals, learning specialists and Assistant Principals for what they have worked tirelessly together to create here at KPS. Your amazing children are attending an amazing school with amazing staff.

Year 3–6 Athletics Day. Our Athletics Day was held on Thursday, 26th June, at Sprint, Craigieburn, from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm. It was a wonderful event filled with excitement and team spirit. Students participated in sprints, long jump, high jump, shot put, and discus, and thoroughly enjoyed the day.

This was Mr. Yasunaga’s first Athletics Day at KPS, and it was a great success. A heartfelt thank you from our entire community for his excellent organisation and effort in ensuring everything ran smoothly. It was heartening to hear our students cheer each other on with such enthusiasm. The weather was kind to us, and a special thank you goes to the two parents who volunteered to assist on the day.

End-of-Term Reports & Upcoming Conferences.

Student reports will be available this afternoon via Compass. We encourage all families to download and save these reports to your personal devices, as Compass only stores them while your child is enrolled at the school. Once students graduate or leave KPS, access to these reports will no longer be available.

We sincerely thank our dedicated teachers for their hard work in preparing accurate assessments and valuable feedback. Please remember that each child progresses at their own pace, and our teaching staff are committed to supporting the individual growth and development of every student.

Our 3-Way Conferences will take place on Thursday, 24th July. These conferences are a key opportunity for your child to share their learning growth with you and for you to discuss your child's progress and next steps in learning. All students are expected to attend with their families. There will be no regular classes on this day, and students will be marked absent if they do not attend their conference. Childcare will be available through Schools Out, please ensure you book early if needed.

Please let the school manage all incidents between children.

We remind all adults that it is never appropriate to approach another family’s child in the school yard regarding school-related matters. If you have any concerns, please bring them to the attention of the leadership team and trust in our school’s processes. Should any adult continue to approach children directly, a School Community Safety Order will be issued.

Holiday Learning.

The school holidays are a welcome break from the routine of early mornings and school pickups. It is a wonderful time to engage in playful, creative, and educational activities at home, reading books, playing games, doing crafts, or practising handwriting and number facts are all great ways to support ongoing learning in a relaxed environment. Simple activities like cutting with scissors also help develop important fine motor skills for our Preps – 3 students.

Farewell.

Today we say farewell to two ES staff members who have been part of our school community for several years. Leesa, who has most recently been working in the Library and Prep, and Cathy, who has been with us since the very first day of the school and has worked across all year levels. Leesa is moving on to an administration role, and Cathy is transferring to a school closer to home. We wish them both all the very best for the future and sincerely thank them for their dedication and contributions to the KPS community.

We look forward to welcoming everyone back bright and early on Monday, 21st July, ready to start Semester 2 of 2025 with fresh energy and enthusiasm.

Thank you,

Loren Peavey
