Regional Cross Country Success!

On Thursday 19th June, four of our students proudly represented Holy Cross at the Regional Cross Country Championships, held at the Keilor Athletics Track & Sports Precinct. Reaching this level is an outstanding achievement, with each runner having qualified through a series of events, beginning with our school cross country on 4th April, followed by District (24th April) and Division (28th May) competitions.

A huge congratulations to Finnan Howley, who competed in the Under 9/10 boys division and ran an incredible 2km race, finishing 1st out of 95 competitors! Finnan’s fantastic result means he will now represent our region at the State Championships in Yarra Glen on 24th July. What an amazing effort well done, Finnan!

In the Under 12 boys category, both Jameson Howley and James Dwyer competed in a 3km race and finished side by side in 27th and 28th place out of 85 runners, an excellent result against a strong field.

Adrian Avenell represented our school in the Under 12 girls race, completing the 3km course despite not feeling her best on the day. We know how dedicated and competitive Adrian is, and we’re proud of her perseverance and determination.

Well done to all four competitors, you represented our school with pride, resilience, and spirit. We look forward to cheering Finnan on at the State Championships next month!
