The Adventures of Luce

Luce, our Catholic mascot for the 2025 Jubilee year, is taking some time to journey through the spaces and places at Holy Cross. Luce has been learning about how we grow, play and learn here at Holy Cross. She has been sharing her symbolism, provoking thoughtful conversations as we too journey through the Jubilee Year. Here at the Language of Artistry space, using the pastels as an exploration material, Luce and the children are representing her symbols of hope, Prayer and companionship.

In the Year One and Two learning space we welcome Luce and thank her for being a companion on our journey through the 2025 Jubilee year.

Luce Ambassadors

Ambassadors are people who notice special moments when God feels close and share them with others. Our first Luce Ambassadors have been excited to notice God in many moments during the day and to help share Luce’s journey. They are Max Allen and Ben Morrison.

Every few weeks, our Ambassadors will help to choose new Luce Ambassadors.

Our Luce Ambassadors...

  • Help keep track of Luce and make sure she visits different classrooms and school events.
  • Remind everyone that Luce is a special sign that God is always with us on our journey.
  • Collect stories from classes about special times when people felt close to God. These are called God Moments
  • Wear a Pilgrims of Hope badge, to let others know they can tell you about their God Moments too!

Confirmation Reflection Day

Our Year Six students joined with students from St Brigid's School and the Parish Catechetical Program for a special day of reflection and preparation for the Sacrament of Confirmation.

We were honoured to welcome Bishop Rene Ramirez, one of the new auxiliary bishops for the Archdiocese of Melbourne, who spent time speaking with the students. He guided them through the elements of the sacrament and even helped them make a meaningful connection between our school’s olive grove and the sacred chrism oil used in Confirmation.

A special thank you to our dedicated staff for making the day possible, and to Fr Vincent and Bishop Ramirez for their time and support in preparing our students for this important step in their faith journey.

Can you spot Luce in the reflection day photo?

At school drop-off, a student noticed a beautiful rainbow and remarked that it felt like a "God moment", something Luce would really like. Where will you notice God this week?
