Message from Mrs Meyer

We Are One Body in Christ
Listen to his offer of love and become his one family: in the one Christ, we are one.
Pope Leo XIV
This Sunday we celebrate the Solemnity of the The Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ. It also coincides with World Refugee Day, a time to reflect on our shared humanity and the hope that everyone might find a true home and the opportunity to thrive.
It seems a fitting day then to for our Year Six students to celebrate the Sacrament of Confirmation. This sacrament marks the beginning of their active journey in the Church as they become visible signs of Christ to others, building relationships and reaching out in love.
This week, I witnessed a moment that truly made God’s presence known. A prep student was eager to join a basketball game with some older students. Instead of being turned away or overwhelmed, he was gently invited by a Year Six student to sit and watch. The older student patiently explained the rules, helping the prep student feel confident and included.
In that small moment, every fruit of the Spirit was present—love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.
At Holy Cross, moments like these are a gentle reminder of the strong sense of welcome and connection that quietly shapes our community, something many visitors, parents, and students often notice and value.
So as we reflect on how we too can become the tangible Body of Christ, let’s remember that these simple acts of welcome, guidance, and kindness are where God becomes visible among us. We think this prayer from Ollie is a pretty good place to start.
Many Blessings,
Eloise Meyer
Winning is Fun, but being kind is more Important!
⚽Playtime Sports Charter🏈
Jack, Mitchell, Harry, Tom, James and Max noticed that behaviour during football and soccer games has missed the mark at times. After holding a thoughtful round-table discussion, it became clear that everyone wanted games that were kind, inclusive, respectful, safe, honest, fair, and most importantly, fun.
With guidance, the boys collaborated to develop the Holy Cross Playtime Sports Charter, designed for all students participating in team sports during playtime. They have since shared the charter with all classes and invited students to sign it as a commitment to uphold these values.
The boys have championed the charter, some of them even carrying a copy in their pockets in case they need to refer to it or share it with others. More importantly, the students are actively practising ways to follow the charter by staying calm, even pausing their games to remind each other that winning is fun, but being kind is more important!
This initiative is an exciting development and a strong example of student voice making a positive impact in our school community.
Car Park Champions
We're so pleased to see many parents walking their children through the car park during drop-off and pick-up times.
With all the traffic movement, it's encouraging to see such a positive step toward ensuring everyone’s safety.
A special shout-out to those enduring the chilly morning walks, your efforts don't go unnoticed!
All students attending Holy Cross Primary School have the right to feel safe. The care, safety and wellbeing of children and young people is a fundamental responsibility of all within our school.
