Careers Update

Pathways Co-ordinator
This term has been a busy one in the careers and pathways space. Our Year 12 students attended the VCE Careers Expo to begin researching their options for next year. We are also well underway with individual careers meetings for Year 12s, which will wrap up early next term in preparation for university applications. Year 12 students, please keep an eye out for our upcoming VTAC assembly, where we will cover everything you need to know about applications, key dates, SEAS, scholarships, and more.
In the Middle School, our Year 9 students are preparing to take part in the My Career Insights (Morrisby) program. Through this program, students will:
- Learn about the skills and abilities they could bring to future careers.
- Discover which jobs align with their abilities, interests, and personality, and identify the subjects required for those careers.
As part of the program, your child will have free access to:
- Complete a series of online questions and quizzes on the Morrisby website at school.
- Receive a Morrisby Profile Report summarising their individual strengths, interests, and potential career and study options.
- Participate in a 30-minute meeting with a Morrisby-trained Career Practitioner to discuss their report. Parents are welcome to attend this meeting. If you require a telephone interpreting service, please let the school know.
Consent is required for students to participate in the full program. Details can be found on Compass, and consent must be provided by Friday, 4th July.
Last week, a group of Year 10 students attended the VET Careers Expo, where they explored VET options within the VCE and VCE-VM programs, as well as apprenticeships and post-school pathways. The students fully engaged with the presenters, with the hands-on activity of building a box proving to be a clear highlight; kids love hammering!
Lastly, we’ve just released our ‘Quick Guide to Pathways at Elwood College’, which provides all the key information about pathways in one place. The guide includes an overview of key events at each year level, subject options available throughout the senior years (including VCE, VCE-VM and VET subjects), and a summary of post-schooling pathways.
