As we wrap up Term 2, I just want to recognise what a big term it’s been for our Year 7 and Year 8 students.

For our Year 7s, these past ten weeks have marked real growth both socially and academically. They’ve come a long way since that first nervous day in February, and we’ve loved seeing them find their feet and start to feel a real sense of belonging at Elwood.

Our Year 8s have been stepping up too, taking on challenges with more independence.

This term, Junior School students have been involved in round robins, taking part in a range of team sports with plenty of enthusiasm. These events have been a great way for students to connect with peers, enjoy some healthy competition, and build confidence through teamwork and trying new things.

A group of our junior students attended the Flourish workshop, a program focused on empowering young women to build confidence, develop leadership, and use their voices. The students who participated represented our school with such thoughtfulness and maturity, and we’re incredibly proud of the way they engaged with the opportunity.

Many students in the Junior School have taken on environmental duty around the school this term, doing their bit to help keep our grounds clean and welcoming. It’s been encouraging to see how many are willing to take responsibility for their environment and contribute to our school community in practical ways.

We’re also looking ahead to some great experiences in Term 3. Year 8 Camp kicks off straight away in Week 1, a fantastic opportunity for students to connect outside the classroom, challenge themselves, and build confidence. Year 7 students will also begin a new rotation of elective subjects including Art, Drama, Music, and Food Technology, offering plenty of chances to explore new interests and talents.

Thanks, as always, to our wonderful Junior School staff and to our parent community for all your support. We wish everyone a safe and relaxing break and we look forward to seeing students return recharged and ready for Term 3.
