Holiday Works

As our students have been winding down as the end of the year approaches, we have been ramping up preparing for a range of works to be undertaken during the upcoming holiday period.

These include -

  • Soft-fall mulch to be replaced throughout our major play areas (completed last week).

  • Air-conditioner servicing and repairs

  • Replacement of the boundary fence at the back of the school. This will include new gates and will hopefully increase the safety and security of our school

  • Synthetic turf repairs and maintenance

  • Gutter and roof cleaning

  • Range of roofing repairs and plumbing works

  • Exterior window cleaning of all rooms

  • Deep cleaning of our toilet facilities

  • End of term detail clean of classrooms and outside areas

  • Gas appliance servicing and maintenance

We look forward to the above works being conducted to have to school looking fantastic for the new school year.

2026 Stationary Packs - Handwriting and Spelling Resources

If you have already received your child's 2026 stationary pack, you may have noticed some published workbooks alongside our usual student exercise books. In 2026, all students in Foundation to Year 2 will continue to utilise the Targeting Handwriting resources to embed a consistent, effective and sequential approach to teaching important handwriting skills. Students developing a fluent and efficient handwriting style is not only an important curriculum outcome but is also beneficial in developing other key literacy areas.

Likewise, all students in Years 2 - 6 will use a Sound Waves student workbook to support the implementation of the Sound Waves program as our consistent approach to spelling. Sound Waves is a program developed by Australian teachers for use in Australian classrooms and informed on the best practices for teaching spelling. It has also been selected as it builds upon the skills taught in the Little Learners Love Literacy programs which is currently taught in our Foundation and Year 1 classrooms. Pleasingly, the introduction of both Sound Waves and Little Learners Love Literacy has been a key factor in our improved student outcome data relating to Literacy.

We look forward to continuing to use these two approaches in 2026 as part of our school-wide goal to maintain and further enhance growth in Literacy.

Vandalism - Please be Vigilant

Unfortunately, as the weather improves and the days get longer we also seem to notice an increase of vandalism on school grounds. Please feel welcome to use our school grounds during the upcoming break as a busy environment is often a great deterrent for antisocial behaviour. Please contact the police on 000 directly if you do witness any vandalism or antisocial behaviour on our school grounds particularly if you notice anyone accessing our roof-space/shade sails or using motorised bikes/scooters.

Thank you

Lastly, I would like to thank all of our parent community for their support throughout 2025. I hope everyone is able to have an enjoyable, restful and enriching Christmas and a very safe New Year (particularly if you are heading away on a family holiday).

Kind regards,

Brendan Garvey
