New Playground Construction Update

Temporary fencing went up this morning as the first step towards building our exciting new playground, with works officially kicking off on Monday.

Rest assured, access to the back gate and the pathway leading to it will remain completely unaffected. Families can continue using these areas as normal throughout the entire construction period.

We’re thrilled to see this project coming to life and look forward to sharing the progress as our new play space takes shape!

End of Year Celebration

As Kirrily shared, this week’s concerts were a beautiful reminder of what makes RGLPS so special — our students shining with confidence, our families cheering them on, and our community coming together to create moments our children will remember for years to come.

A huge thank you to everyone who helped make these events run so smoothly, including all staff, who worked so hard behind the scenes and on the night to ensure everything came together so beautifully.

A special thank you to Magda, Tiff and all the volunteers in the GLCG, who give up their time to support and uplift our school in so many ways. We are truly grateful.

Thank You to Our Families – Student Support Group (SSG) Meetings

A heartfelt thank you to all the families who joined us for Student Support Group (SSG) meetings this term. We truly value the time, honesty and care you bring to these conversations.

SSGs are a vital part of our partnership with families, helping us work together to understand each child’s strengths, needs and next steps. When home and school collaborate so closely, we create the strongest foundation for our students to thrive.

Thank you for your continued support and for being such important partners in your child’s learning and wellbeing.

International Human Rights Day – Wednesday 10 December

Next week, our school will acknowledge Human Rights Day, a global day that reminds us of the essential rights and freedoms every person is entitled to.

This year’s theme, Human Rights, Our Everyday Essentials, highlights how human rights shape our daily lives—often in quiet, everyday ways we don’t always notice. In a world that can sometimes feel uncertain or unsettled, it’s an important reminder of the values that connect us: dignity, respect, fairness and inclusion.

Human rights can sometimes feel like big ideas, but at their core they’re the everyday things we all need to feel safe, respected and included. Next week, teachers will explore these concepts in simple, age-appropriate ways during Wellbeing sessions.

Families who would like to continue the conversation at home might like to:

  • Ask simple questions like “What helps you feel safe and respected?” or “How can we make sure everyone feels included?”
  • Notice everyday examples of fairness and kindness together.
  • Talk about times when someone supported them, listened to them, or made sure their voice was heard.
  • Explore how small actions—sharing, including others, speaking kindly—reflect human rights in daily life.

It’s a meaningful opportunity for our students to connect global ideas to their everyday experiences—and to recognise the role they play in creating a kinder world.

🧠 Did You Know? 🧠

Young children often show affective empathy (feeling someone else’s distress) before they show cognitive empathy (understanding why someone feels a certain way).📚 Source: Zahn-Waxler, C., Radke-Yarrow, M., et al. (1992). “Development of concern for others.”
