Stage 5 English Project Day
Late in the term, Stage 5 students took part in a special English Project Day designed to celebrate their learning and provide opportunities for authentic expression. Year 10 students chose from three major tasks: filming a “Year 10 in Review” video, writing a reflective piece on their experiences throughout the year, or conducting an interview with a community member to feel more prepared for future employment opportunities. This project aims to develop communication, collaboration, and critical thinking skills and we look forward to seeing the impressive work they produce.
HSIE
Sydney Jewish Museum
Ninety of our Year 9 and 10 History students recently visited the Sydney Jewish Museum as part of their World War II studies. Throughout the day, students explored powerful exhibitions on the Holocaust, Jewish life and culture, and the stories of survivors who rebuilt their lives in Australia. They engaged with artefacts, interactive displays, and testimonies that deepened their understanding of the human impact of genocide and persecution. Our students demonstrated maturity, compassion and thoughtful inquiry throughout the visit, asking meaningful questions and reflecting on the relevance of these histories today. This excursion provided an invaluable learning experience that strengthened students’ understanding of World War II and the importance of standing against hatred and discrimination in all its forms.
‘Living Histories’ WWI Incursion
Our Year 9 History students recently participated in a dynamic Living Histories incursion that brought the events of World War I to life. Through hands-on artefacts and immersive storytelling, students explored the experiences of Australian soldiers on the Western Front, as well as the impact of the war on families and communities at home. The session allowed students to handle replica equipment, examine primary sources, and deepen their understanding of trench conditions, communication technologies and battlefield challenges. Students were highly engaged and demonstrated thoughtful curiosity, asking insightful questions and making strong connections to their classroom learning. The incursion provided a rich, memorable experience that strengthened students’ appreciation of Australia’s role in WWI and the importance of preserving these histories for future generations.
SCIENCE
Year 9T Science students have commenced a design project in which they apply their understanding of sustainability to construct a model sustainable city. Working collaboratively, students are drawing on their knowledge of energy efficiency, waste management, water conservation and urban planning to design systems that minimise environmental impact.
Marine Studies Shark and Ray Centre Excursion
Year 9 Marine Studies students recently visited the Shark and Ray Centre to deepen their understanding of marine animal behaviour, adaptations, and conservation. During the excursion, students observed a range of shark and ray species up close. Hands-on interactions allowed students to see how these animals respond to touch, movement, and environmental changes.
The visit also highlighted the importance of responsible human–animal interactions and conservation efforts aimed at protecting vulnerable marine species. Students engaged respectfully and demonstrated strong interest throughout the experience. Overall, the excursion provided an engaging and valuable learning opportunity for Marine Studies students.

Year 10 Immersion Day – Food Technology
Year 10 Food Technology students recently enjoyed an Immersion Day focused on developing their practical cooking skills. Students made fresh pasta from scratch, learning the techniques behind combining, kneading, and resting the dough. They then prepared a rich tomato sugo before using the pasta machine to roll and cut their own fettuccine. The day was hands-on, engaging, and a great opportunity for students to extend their confidence in the kitchen.
