Tips to stay safe in and around the water:
When the weather gets hot, our beaches, lakes, rivers and public and private swimming pools across the state become popular places to swim, paddle and have fun in the water. However, it's important to be aware of the risks of swimming in nature.
Top tips to stay safe in and around the water during the holidays:
- Know the conditions. Know your limits.
- Only swim where permitted.
- Swim between the red & yellow flags at the beach
- Do not swim by yourself.
- Always wear a lifejacket when boating.
- Never swim near waterfalls.
- Do not jump off piers and jetties.
- Observe all safety signage and barriers.
- Always wear sunscreen
- Always be supervised by an adult
- Ensure children who cannot swim use well-fitted, approved life jackets.
Beaches may have hazards such as rips, strong undertows and sudden changes in weather conditions. Stay safe at the beach by only swimming where there are lifeguards and by staying in between the red and yellow flags.

Student Leaders News
On behalf of the OLSC community we thank our student leaders for 2024.
They have been great role models and have lived our school values every day. They have organised many whole school activities and worked hard at building the OLSC community.
I have thoroughly enjoyed working with our student leaders throughout 2024. They will certainly be a hard act to follow.
We wish them well as they take the next step in their learning journey.
I would like to take this opportunity to wish each and every person in OLSC community a very happy, holy and safe Christmas. May you get to spend valuable time with family and friends & create lasting memories. I look forward to working in partnership with you next year.
Feel free to email me at: shenderson@olscwyn.catholic.edu.au or call the school office if you have any concerns or need help at any time.
Cheers
Sandy
