Earthwatch Australia are seeking applications from students in years 10, 11 and 12 attending a government school in South Australia, Victoria, or the Murray Darling Basin catchment of New South Wales or Queensland for our long running, fully funded, Student Challenge scholarship program.
Earthwatch’s mission is to inspire the next generation of environmental stewards, The Student Challenge gives secondary school students the chance to live and work in the field with leading researchers to help solve some of Australia’s most pressing environmental issues. It is an eye-opening adventure and an exciting opportunity for students to explore their interest in science and the environment.

Geelong Kokoda Youth Program
(Applicable to current Year 11 Students)
The Geelong Kokoda Youth Program engages young people from secondary schools in the Geelong, Bellarine & Surf Coast region to help them build confidence, resilience, fitness, and connections that will support them into the future.
A number of young people are selected to undertake this intensive year long program which involves personal development, fitness, health, diet, and most importantly role modelling with stable and genuine support.
The selected young people participate in 20 weeks of physical training along with program mentors from local businesses and government organisations to at the end walk the 96km Kokoda Trek in Papua New Guinea.
The trek also educates the students about the campaign in which the Australian soldiers partook during World War II, motivated by the Kokoda pillars – Courage, Endurance, Mateship, Sacrifice.
Selected students will not incur a cost to be involved in the program though it is a large time commitment. If you would like to learn more about this exciting opportunity, please attend a meeting in A3 at lunchtime on Tuesday the 11th February to learn about the selection and application process.
