School-Wide Positive Behaviour Support

School-Wide Positive Behaviour Support (SWPBS) at Belmont High

At Belmont High, we are committed to fostering a positive and inclusive school culture through School-Wide Positive Behaviour Support (SWPBS). SWPBS is a proactive approach that helps create a safe and supportive learning environment where students can thrive.

Encouraging Positive Behaviours

This year, we have introduced a Positive Token System to recognize and celebrate students who consistently demonstrate our three core values:

Respect – treating others with kindness and consideration.

Opportunity – making the most of learning experiences.

Resilience – persisting through challenges with a positive attitude.

When students display these behaviours as outlined in our Behaviour Matrix, they receive a token from staff. These tokens can be placed in jars at the front office, entering them into a draw for a range of exciting spot prizes—including gift cards and even a hot chip lunch for them and 10 friends!

Whole School Routines for a Consistent Learning Environment

To further support a positive climate for learning, we have introduced whole school routines to ensure smooth transitions and clear expectations across all learning spaces. These routines, displayed on classroom doors, help students:

✅ Feel secure and confident in their learning environment.

✅ Reduce anxiety and increase focus by knowing what to expect.

✅ Strengthen our school community by creating a shared sense of purpose.

By reinforcing Respect, Opportunity, and Resilience every day, we are building a school culture where students feel valued and supported in their learning journey. We encourage families to discuss these values at home and celebrate their child's efforts in making BHS a great place to learn!

Thank you for your ongoing support!
