Wow, we are at the end of the year already. Where did that time go??? What another big year 2024 has been at Scotsburn! As always, we have so much to celebrate and be proud of. The entire Scotsburn staff would like to take this opportunity to thank the Scotsburn community for your support throughout the year, it has been a real team effort. When we sit back and think about all that we have accomplished this year, it really is quite remarkable. None more so than the achievements of our Scotsburn students. You continually amaze us!
Thanks again to everyone and we hope you all have a restful and enjoyable break.
Monday Relocation Thank You
Thank you everyone for your flexibility and organisation with the move down to Buninyong on Monday due to the extreme weather conditions. Although we were faced with some pretty oppressive environmental conditions, the transition to Buninyong was as smooth as we could have hoped for. We were even able to successfully run our Christmas concert, which was a massive achievement in itself. Thanks again.
Scotsburn Community Church Christmas Carols
We also want to send out a huge thank you to our team of parent helpers (coordinated by Kylie Smith) who manned the BBQ at the Community Church Christmas Carols on Saturday night. By all reports it was a lovely event and another great way to help strengthen our connections in the local community.
Scotsburn Shared Lunch
Once again, our shared lunch was a massive celebration for the campus. A yummy two course meal was enjoyed by all, with lots of festive cheer. Thanks again to our parent helpers for making this event possible.
Scotsburn Sleepover
What an incredible event the sleepover was last week! The night was filled with yummy food, outdoor team games, dancing, night walks and movies. Everyone managed to get a decent amount of sleep as well, which was very much appreciated! A massive thank you to all staff and helpers involved, including Liz, Ana and Vanessa who slept over, as well as Hayley, Raquel and all our parent helpers who went over and above with their assistance both on Thursday night and Friday morning. We are sure that everyone slept well on Friday night!
CFA Water Fight
A huge thank you to the Buninyong and Mount Helen Fire Brigade for coming along for the annual epic water fight! Students raised a total of $113 from doing chores at home to give to these amazing volunteers who give so much to our community. We had a great time and it was a wonderful finish to our Scotsburn sleepover.
Scotsburn Christmas Concert
What a wonderful celebration our Concert was on Monday. In stifling heat and gusting winds, we were able to pull off the event without a hitch. The students did such an amazing job in the trying conditions. Thank you to our parent team for the lovely gifts as well as the kind words from Rhiannon. We certainly feel the love! Also, a massive congratulations to Amity and Anastastia who were announced as our 2025 Scotsburn leaders - we know you will be amazing!
Grade 6 Graduation
Well done and good luck to Isla, Rhylee, Savannah and Zoe who will attend their grade 6 Graduation ceremony tonight at Buninyong. Be really proud of your efforts across your entire primary school journey and have a wonderful night.
Scotsburn Pool Fun Day - Tomorrow
Wednesday 18th December
A reminder that our pool day is tomorrow, Wednesday 18th December, between 11am – 1pm. We will be heading off to Fed Uni Pool to participate in a variety of pool activities. Students will then be treated to some pizza for lunch. If there are any dietary requirements for your child, please see your child’s teacher.
Paws for a Cause
As you may be already aware, our Scotsburn Grade 3-6 students have been busily working their (wagging) tails off to complete their paper mache dog sculptures as a way to explore the possibilities of creating art as a vehicle for community benefit. Our travelling exhibition was already out and about over the weekend, at the Scotsburn Community Church Christmas Carols, where we were able to raise over $300 for the RSPCA through public interest in our artworks. We will also be at the following two events, so please consider bringing along a small cash donation to add to the dogs’ bowls at the following events:
- Buninyong PS final assembly 19/12/24
- Buninyong Playgroup Winter Wonderland 20/12/24
Holiday Animal Care
It is that time of the year that we are once again looking for some families to volunteer care for our chickens and Pip the lizard over the holiday break. If you can help out in any way, please come and see Jarrod on Wednesday.
Last Day of School Reminders
Thursday 19th December
A reminder that our last day of school is this Thursday 19th December. As we did last year, we will start the morning at the Buninyong Campus for the whole school assembly. Our Grade 6 leaders will be presenting at assembly as well as many other end of year celebrations. As it is a 1.30pm finish, we will spend the entire day at Buninyong, so please remember pick up arrangements will be at Buninyong. We will meet parents and carers in the courtyard at 1.15pm for a final campus farewell. If your child is planning to give any cards or presents at the end of the year to friends, it may be easier to do this by Wednesday 18th December, as this will be our last day at the Scotsburn Campus for 2024.
