Christmas Dress Up Day on the Last Day of Term
A reminder that on the last day of term, students are encouraged to dress up in a Christmas related theme! This is always a fun day and a nice way to finish the term as we head off on the holiday break.
Grade 6 students (and any other students permanently leaving the school) usually wear their uniform on this day in order to get it signed by their classmates.
SCHOOL UNIFORM WEARING IN 2025
School Uniform
Over the summer break, some parents will be purchasing items of uniform for their children. When doing so, please make sure the items you purchase fit our uniform policy (see our website for a copy).
At Buninyong Primary School, we take pride in our school uniform, which represents our strong sense of community and belonging. Wearing the full school uniform helps students feel connected to their peers and promotes equality by minimising focus on clothing differences.
To help everyone follow our uniform expectations, here are a few important guidelines:
- Wear your uniform every day: We ask that students wear the full school uniform, unless it’s a special casual dress day.
- Keep it neat and tidy: Uniform items should be clean, in good condition, and worn neatly. Hats should not have visible drawings on the outside.
- NO logos, apart from the Buninyong PS logo.
- No athletic or sports shorts - plain black school shorts only.
- Label your clothing: To avoid lost items, please label all uniform pieces with your name. We recommend labels be sewn or ironed inside garments.
- Personal presentation: Students are encouraged to keep their presentation simple. Make up, nail polish or false nails aren’t part of the uniform. Small, plain gold or silver stud or sleeper earrings can be worn in earlobes.
- Tie back long hair: If your hair reaches your collar, please tie it back using black hair tie.
- Hats for sun safety: Our Buninyong Primary School hat is part of our uniform and essential for outdoor activities.
- Black school shoes, runners or boots.
Thank you for your cooperation and support.
A reminder that your School Saving Bonus can be allocated to purchasing uniforms through the school.
A Reminder About Lollies as Choking Hazards
Around this time each year, we see an increase of Christmas cards and lollies (mostly candy canes but not limited to these) coming to school and being shared as a gift for Christmas.
Whilst we are not discouraging the kids from showing this kindness to their peers, these lollies can pose a choking hazard if not consumed appropriately and may also contain ingredients that may cause an anaphylactic reaction in some children.
As such, we ask that all families take the time to talk to their children about saving any lollies that they receive until they get home. Our staff will also be reminding students of this.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
