Principal's Report

Debbie Oliver

Our 2024 school year is drawing to a close, and Christmas is just around the corner. This last week has been a time of celebrating and acknowledging students for their effort and commitment to their studies. Our secondary school awards were well attended this morning, and we acknowledged our 2024 School Dux, Finbar O'Sullivan, who achieved an outstanding ATAR of 99.15. Finbar's drive and dedication to his studies this year was exemplary, and it is pleasing to see this rewarded.  Many other students also achieved excellent academic results, and we wish them all the best as they take the next step into their future endeavours, whether that be further study, training, or entering the workforce.

Also, congratulations to all the secondary award winners today and the wider community for supporting our awards. A list of recipients of this year’s awards, excluding those who can not be published is attached below.

On Tuesday, we also welcomed over 70 future Year 7s to the statewide transition day and 20 new Foundation students.  It was a fun and informative day and students got the chance to experience secondary classes, meet their teachers, and begin forming friendships with their peers. We look forward to welcoming them officially in 2025!

Next week, our secondary school will begin its activities program, and the primary and Special Education will prepare for the Christmas Concert and Grade 6 graduation.

Congratulations to Mandessah Wyatt and Jacob Sterio, our new school captains for 2025.

As this is our last newsletter for the year, I would like to thank all staff, students, families, and the broader community for your contributions to Seymour College this year and wish you all a restful yet fun-filled holiday.

Regards

Debbie Oliver
