Welcome to Performing Arts for 2025

This Term in Performing Arts, our focus is Storytelling Around the World—exploring the rich traditions, meanings, and methods of storytelling across cultures.

Why do we tell stories? From ancient myths to modern theatre, storytelling has always been a powerful way for people to share experiences, pass down history, teach lessons, and spark imagination. Stories connect us, help us understand different perspectives, and allow us to express emotions in ways that words alone sometimes cannot.

Throughout the Term, students will engage with storytelling through Drama, Music, and Dance, discovering how different cultures bring stories to life. They will experiment with movement, voice, rhythm, and expression to convey meaning, emotion, and character. By immersing themselves in storytelling traditions from around the world, they will develop both their creative and communication skills.

We look forward to an exciting term of creativity, collaboration, and discovery!

A Big Welcome to our 2025 Performing Arts Leaders, Gemma and Emily!

The Performing Arts leaders will be responsible for helping lead Holy Spirit in all things Performing Arts. This will include helping to organise and run Performing Arts events, writing the Performer of the Week awards each week, reading out the Performing Arts STAR award at assembly, and helping prepare the Performing Arts room for lessons.

Gemma: My favourite part of Performing Arts is singing and drama. I take singing lessons at school, and outside of school, I am part of The Australian Girls Choir. My favorite part of singing is when I get the opportunity to perform at school events and my end-of-year choir performance at Hamer Hall. This year, I am looking forward to taking part in the Talent Show and having people look up to me as a Performing Arts Leader.

Emily: My favourite part of Performing Arts is getting to perform in front of my classmates and express myself. I have been a dancer since I was three years old, and I am currently involved in Dance and Musical Theatre outside of school. My favorite style of dance is Acrobatics. I am really looking forward to seeing all of the acts in the Talent Show this year, and I’m excited about being a Performing Arts role model for younger students and future Performing Arts leaders.

I am so very grateful for the energy and enthusiasm that these fabulous leaders have already brought to the Performing Arts room, and together we look forward to lots of fun and learning in the Performing Arts room this year.

Wishing everyone a wonderful Term 1!
