PRINCIPAL UPDATE
Good afternoon,
I can’t believe I am writing the final newsletter for the year. Time has flown by in 2024, and we look forward to celebrating the graduation tomorrow evening of our departing Grade 6 students along with a number of other students heading to new schools. Along with this we are excited to welcome our new Preps for their final transition morning along with many new students this Friday.
WELCOMES & FAREWELLS
In addition to this we welcome multiple new staff to our school community.
We are excited to welcome classroom teachers, Katelyn Pistikakis, Erin Howell, Celeste Dawson, Kate Rhind and Cassie Chappell along with French teacher, Brodie Saunal. They will be here on Friday and look forward to meeting members of the school community.
Whilst we welcome new staff, it is also time to farewell Jordan Osborne, who has taught in Grade 3 for two years. Jordan is heading to lecture in Health at Deakin University next year and we wish him all the best with this new role. In addition to this, Abbey Thomas who has been working in Education Support for the past two years is finishing with us. We wish Abbey all the best with new adventures ahead.
I would also like to acknowledge the School Captains and Vice Captains. I have been impressed with their development as leaders this year, and appreciated their support, humour and feedback. Along with this, I congratulate the House Captains on developing their own confidence throughout the year, leading House Activities throughout each term.
Thank you to all staff for their amazing efforts this year. I work with a fabulous team of individuals, where students are at the forefront, and they are committed to each and every individual here at Chilwell.
FURNITURE MOVES
As mentioned previously, the majority of our classes will be moving for the 2025 school year. This means up to 15 sets of furniture will need to be relocated. We are asking families to please put 3:30pm on Tuesday 17th December in your calendars to assist us in moving tables and chairs. All other free-standing furniture will remain in existing spaces.
We have only had 5 parents respond to the Google Form sent last week. This is a massive job, and the more hands-on deck we have the quicker it will be. We appreciate the community coming together to support us with this.

SHOOL REVIEW
We have received our report from the recent School Review and look forward to sharing information from this with you in early 2025. The reviewers were extremely impressed with our community, the parent forums, student and staff groups whilst seeing clear evidence of students engaging in a rigorous teaching and learning program, catering for the whole child, academically, socially and their emotional wellbeing.
CHILWELL FAIR
We are asking parents to support in the preparation and coordination of the Chilwell Fair on Friday March 21st 2025. We are seeking individuals now to take on roles such as sponsorship, marketing, and promotions. Early next year we will be seeking volunteers to coordinate food stalls etc. Due to the timing of the Fair, we are needing to seek sponsorship now in order to prepare for the event and promote businesses accordingly.
The Fair cannot go ahead without parents volunteering in these types of roles. We would appreciate anyone that may be able to assist with this and ask that you contact Meg ASAP.
LOST PROPERTY
There is still a mountain of lost property to be collected. This will be set up outside the main building on the morning of the last day of term.
Assembly will be held at 12:45pm next Friday. Students will only require a snack on the day as they will have lunch upon the conclusion of the school term at 1:30pm.
THANK YOU
Thank you to everyone for your continued support this year. It has truly been a great year with many successes in the classroom, fundraisers for our school and charities, along with achievements in music, sport, debating and so much more. We are looking forward to all things that 2025 will bring. We wish you all a fabulous break spending quality time with family and friends and look forward to seeing you at the end of January.
Kind regards,
Meg
