Exciting News!

I received email notification today that our application to the Capital Works Fund 2024-25 Round was successful! The Deputy Premier, Minister for Education and Medical Research, Ben Carroll MP, was able to inform us that our grant application was approved, providing funding of $499,777.00 for the refurbishment of toilets at Mount Beauty Secondary College.

The Victorian Schools Building Authority (VSBA) will lead the delivery of the project. Procurement is underway, with the remainder of the project delivery to be completed in 2026.

This will provide a huge uplift of our current toilet facilities, providing a more pleasant environment for students and staff and adding to the overall improvements of the school facilities.

Year 10

The Year 10 students completed a 4-day Advantage Program this week, bidding farewell to the year with a fun-filled day of bowling with friends and some Christmas shopping. The students enjoyed seeing what their classes would be like and they participated enthusiastically.

Next week is the last week of official classes for the rest of the students in Years 7 – 9. Students will have their usual classes up until Friday the 13th of December, then they begin their CONNECT Program on Monday the 16th of December.

Presentation Event

This year, the Presentation Event is being held on Tuesday 17th December, from 4.30pm at the Mount Beauty Community Centre. Please note the earlier timeslot, as this has changed from previous years.

Students and families of those that will receive an award will be contacted and invited to attend. However, all students, parents/carers and staff are encouraged to attend to make this a truly celebratory event.

Laptops

Students require a laptop to complete a lot of their work at school, and Mount Beauty Secondary College is a Bring Your Own Device school. Laptops that students use need to meet certain specification requirements to be used on the Department’s network. Please see the requirements below, or refer to the school website for more information.

This time of year is when people look to upgrade their IT equipment, either as a Christmas present or in the sales. If you have a good quality, pre-loved laptop that you no longer want, or are replacing, we would certainly have a good home for it, either to give to a student or to add to our bank of school laptops that students borrow when theirs is out of action.
