RE NEWS

By Fulvia Gerosolimo

As we come to the end of another school year, we pause to reflect on what has been a big and blessed journey for our community. This year has been rich with liturgical celebrations, including the Feast of our Patron Saint, St. Kevin, the Feast of the Sacred Heart, and the celebration of three sacraments received by many of our children. These moments, and many more, have been opportunities for us to grow together in faith, love, and service. I extend my heartfelt gratitude to the entire school community—parents, carers, students and staff for your unwavering support throughout the year. Your involvement in our liturgies, sacraments, and other faith-filled events reflects the true spirit of a thriving, loving community. A good community is one where people come together, work alongside one another, and support each other through all seasons of life. This is the kind of community we are blessed to have at St. Kevin’s, and it is something we can all be proud of.

As we prepare for the joyful season of Christmas, I encourage families to take the opportunity to attend Christmas Mass with their children. Christmas Day Mass is a wonderful way to centre our hearts on the true meaning of this sacred season - the birth of Jesus, our greatest gift.

12th December - Reconciliation Service 7.30pm

24th December - Christmas Eve 5.45pm - Carols

                                   Mass 6.00pm

                                   Mass 9.00pm

25th December - Christmas Day 9.00am (Mass Please note: this is the only Mass on Christmas Day)

This Christmas, let us also remember those in our school community and beyond who may be experiencing hardship. I invite you to keep our Loyo families in your prayers over the Christmas season. Christmas can be a particularly difficult time for those who are separated from loved ones, experiencing loss, or facing other challenges.

As we come together as a faith community, let us offer our prayers and support to bring comfort and hope to those who need it most.

In a world that often focuses on receiving the biggest or most expensive gifts, Christmas is an opportunity to teach our children the richness of gratitude. Take a moment to sit with your children and talk about the blessings they have—their family, their home, their education, and their friends. Encourage them to think about those who may not have as much and how we, as a community, can share kindness and love.

This Christmas, let us embrace the spirit of giving and thankfulness, reminding our children of the greatest gift we have all received: the love of God through Jesus Christ.

May the joy and peace of Christmas fill your homes and hearts. Wishing you all a safe and happy holiday season, and may God’s blessings be with you always.

Merry Christmas and blessings for the New Year!

Every blessing,

Fulvia Gerosolimo

Advent

On Sunday we celebrated the Second Sunday of Advent, a time of joyful anticipation and preparation for the coming of Christ. During this season, we are reminded to prepare not only our homes but also our hearts for the arrival of Jesus. The second candle on the Advent wreath, often called the "Candle of Peace," reminds us of the peace that Christ brings to the world and to each of us personally.

As we journey through Advent, we continue to look forward with hope to the celebration of Christmas, the birth of our Savior, and to His eventual return in glory. This season invites us to reflect on how we can prepare a place for Jesus in our lives through acts of kindness, prayer, and sharing His love with others. Let us continue to watch and wait with open hearts, ready to welcome Him with joy this Christmas and beyond.

Feast of the Immaculate Conception

On Sunday, we also celebrated the Feast of the Immaculate Conception, a special day in our Church calendar dedicated to Mary, the Mother of Jesus. This feast honours the belief that Mary, from the very moment of her conception, was free from original sin. Chosen by God for her unique role in salvation, Mary’s immaculate nature prepared her to bring Jesus into the world.

This celebration reminds us of Mary’s unwavering faith and trust in God. She is a powerful example of grace and obedience, inspiring us to say "yes" to God's call in our own lives.

As we prepare our hearts during Advent, let us turn to Mary in prayer, asking her to guide us closer to her Son, Jesus, and to help us live lives of love, faith, and humility.

Mary, Mother of God, pray for us!

REMINDER

A friendly reminder to continue bringing in your donations of non-perishable foods for The Missionary of Charity as part of our Christmas Social Justice action.

Your contributions make a significant difference in the lives of those in need, especially during this season of giving. Let us continue to share the true spirit of Christmas by helping those less fortunate.
