Principal's Report

Dear Families,

2025 Class Placements

We have dedicated countless hours to carefully organising class placements for 2025. Our team has taken feedback from parents, students, and staff into account, working hard to ensure a balanced and positive learning environment for all students.

Students will learn their class placements on Tuesday, 10th December. Please note that we are unable to accept correspondence regarding changes to class placements. Adjusting placements is not a simple process, as it impacts the delicate balance of the class and may contradict pairing, learning, and friendship requests already in place.

Thank you for your understanding and support as we strive to create the best possible start for our students in 2025.

Billy Carts And Tabloid Sports

We’re eagerly looking forward to our Tabloid Sports and Billy Cart Day this Thursday! Mr. O has been working tirelessly to prepare an exciting lineup of activities for the Tabloid Sports, ensuring a fun and active day for everyone. Tabloid Sports starts at 9:15am, Mr. O is still looking for some parent helpers, so if you can help, please come along at 9:00am and make yourself known.

Meanwhile, Mr. B, Miss Pitt, and our Grade 6 students have poured their creativity and effort into perfecting their billy cart designs. The results are nothing short of amazing, and we can’t wait to see them in action! Parents are welcome to join students for lunch on the oval from 12:30pm.

It’s shaping up to be a fantastic day of teamwork, fun, and skill. See you there!

Grade 1/2 Camp at Lady Northcote

Our Grade 1/2 students had an incredible time on their camp at Lady Northcote! The students embraced the opportunity to participate in a range of fun and engaging activities, creating lasting memories with their classmates.

A huge thank you to our amazing parent volunteers for their time and support in helping make the camp a success. We also extend our gratitude to Tracy Tadd, Carla Dodd, Veronica Wuthrich, and Bronwyn McLeod for their exceptional efforts in organising such a well-planned and enjoyable trip. Your dedication ensured an unforgettable experience for our students!

Macedon Ranges Council Filming

On the morning of Tuesday, December 10th, you may notice some filming taking place at the school crossing. This is being coordinated by the Macedon Ranges Shire Council, who are working with our crossing guard to create a road safety message.

The final video will be used to promote safe road practices across the shire, highlighting the importance of using school crossings.

New webpage to help families and students prepare for a new school year A new school year is an exciting time for students and families, but it can be a big step – particularly for those starting Prep or moving to secondary school.

The Department of Education has published a webpage with resources and information to help you prepare for the new school year.

During the school holidays, please consider reading through the resources, which include:

·      tips to help transition between kinder and Prep and primary to secondary school

·      what to expect at school

·      help with school costs and fees

·      health and wellbeing guidance to support children’s mental health.

Please refer to the New year of learning webpage.

We Value Your Feedback!

As part of our ongoing efforts to reflect and grow, we are conducting an analysis of our school’s current practices to help shape our next four-year strategic plan. Your feedback is crucial in helping us identify:

  • Strengths/Successes: What are we doing well?
  • Areas of Growth/Improvement: Where can we improve?
  • Opportunities: What opportunities do you see for the school?
  • Dangers: What challenges or risks do you foresee?

We kindly ask you to take a few minutes to share your thoughts by completing a short survey. Your insights will play a vital role in helping us build on our successes and set a clear direction for the future of Macedon Primary School.

Exciting Changes to Our Language Program

After advertising the Indonesian teaching position four times over the past year and receiving no applicants, we have made the difficult decision to move away from Indonesian as our language program.

We are excited to announce that from next year, our school will be transitioning to French as our language. To lead this new chapter, we have employed Lily Gao, who will teach French two days a week.

Lily is multilingual and brings a lot of enthusiasm, having recently completed placements in bilingual schools where children split their learning between French and English. Her expertise for language learning will be a fantastic asset to our school community.

We are thrilled to welcome Lily to the team and look forward to embracing this new language journey together!

Warm regards,

Andrew Bloomfield
