Swimming Carnival

Our 2025 Swimming Carnival is being held on Monday 10th February, 2025. All consent for this event should have already occurred. 

 

It will be a daytime Swimming Carnival at South and West Tamworth War Memorial Swimming Pool (Scully Pool, Kent St). It will commence at approximately 9:30am and finish at approximately 2:00pm. 

 

The Swimming Carnival is part of our school sports program and ALL Primary aged children are expected to be there. The only year 2 students who will be present at the carnival are those who have emailed setsport@arm.catholic.edu.au prior to 3/2/2025.

 

All Primary children will travel to the carnival by bus and arrive at the pool at 9:15am under the supervision of teachers. At the conclusion of the carnival, all students will travel back to school for their regular way of transport home. Parents of Year 2 children who are attending the Carnival are asked to organise transport to and from the pool or alternatively to and from the primary school campus to allow 8yr old infants swimmers to be bussed with Yr 3 classes.

 

Please note the St Ed’s School Canteen WILL ONLY be operating on Monday 10th February, 2025  for INFANTS ONLY.

 

On Monday 10th February children will need to:

*Wear their full sports uniform including school hat and enclosed shoes. 

*Bring enough food and water to last through the Swimming Carnival (THERE WILL BE NO CANTEEN AVAILABLE).

*Bring their swimming bag to school with swimmers, sunscreen, towel, goggles, rashie etc. In the morning, children will change into their swimmers at school before leaving and will change again before returning in the afternoon.

 

Online permission and swimming assessment 

*No child will be allowed access to the pool at the Swimming Carnival without a completed evaluation of their swimming ability and submitted by his/her Parent/Carer. This will allow the children to go in the corresponding events at the carnival.

  1. Individual medley 200 IM 

    (These students will need their own transport to the pool by 8:30am ready for an 8:45am start.)

  2. 50m Freestyle 12/13 yrs -8/9 yrs.
  3. 25m Freestyle 12/13 yrs -8/9 yrs. & Tadpole Time (can use medium pool and shallow end)
  4. 50m Breaststroke 12/13 yrs -8/9 yrs.
  5. 25m Breaststroke 12/13 yrs -8/9 yrs. & Tadpole Time (can use medium pool and shallow end)
  6. 50m Backstroke 12/13 yrs -8/9 yrs.
  7. 25m Backstroke 12/13 yrs -8/9 yrs.  & Tadpole Time (can use medium pool and shallow end)
  8. 50m Butterfly 12/13 yrs -8/9 yrs.
  9. Novelty Races if time allows.
  10. 100m Freestyle.

Polding Trials

This Friday 7th February the following students will be representing Armidale Catholic Schools in Basketball and Tennis. Our basketball representatives are Madeline Noad, Makenzie Smith, Evie Judge, Brodie Robertson, Jimmy Press, Noah Swan and Isaac Heywood. They will compete against other Catholic Dioceses in New South Wales. We wish them all the best for their games! Our Tennis representative is Brooks McCulloch. We wish him all the best for his matches!

All new netball uniforms can be found on the Compass app in the Canteen Uniform menu. We will have uniforms available at the first Friday afternoon training session to look at and purchase. 

 

Training is decided by individual coaches. Training is at St Edward’s Primary School straight after school and Infants’ children can catch the bus. Games will start in early May. 

 

Registrations will close on Friday 28th February.

 

All games are played inside, or on the outside courts at the Tamworth Sports Dome. 

Games for children aged 10 and under are usually played at 12pm.*

Games for children aged 11 and over are usually at 1pm.*

 

*times are subject to change. Draws will be available on the Tamworth Netball Association Facebook page or on the NetballHQ app.

The NSW Athletics partnership are launching a Junior Development Program in Tamworth this year. It utilises the expertise of the Centre of Excellence’s Performance and Pathways team to extend the program to regional NSW after running is successfully in metro NSW for the past 5 years. This program could support some of your sporting programs to add long term development of movement literacy and gym-based movement patterns tailored to the child’s growth and maturation. 

 

Key Features of the program:

  • The Junior Development Program (JDP) is a term based physical development gym program for kids aged 10-14 aimed at building the foundations of strength power speed for multi-sport
  • Athletes are allocated into training groups based on biological age and movement competency testing and train 2 times per week in a squad environment
  • The program includes video analysis testing and sport science protocols to individualise training for kids of all levels
  • Program begins 3 February 2025
