Le Francais
Bonjour tout le monde!
What a wonderful day was had by everyone on Tuesday, July 23 to celebrate our annual French Day, Le Quatorze Juillet, or as anglophones know it "Bastille Day".
Students dressed up in French colours, themes, famous characters and things they made themselves. Some truly amazing ideas and elaborate efforts were put in by students who enjoyed the day with great gusto and "joie de vivre"!
"Merci beaucoup" to all students, teachers and parents who supported the day!
Global Grooves performed a French show filled with music, mime and dance to educate and entertain students with French folklore and culture. The students listened to music from different parts of France, volunteered to beat a tambourine, performed a "ronde" and finished off the session with an exciting "can can".
-The canteen had over 180 orders and offered delicious croissants, baguettes and crepes for the French Meal Deal on the day. "Merci beaucoup" to Annette and Rosangela for their "magnifique" contribution to the day.
Term 3 FRENCH POETRY COMPETITION
BPPS students have now started working on the challenge of the BPPS French Poetry Recitation competition. Students will practice and endeavour to learn a few lines per session in French classes to prepare for the class finals in week 8.
After their presentation, fellow students will mark their peers following selected criteria. The first placegetters from each class will compete against other class first placegetters and an overall winner will be chosen for each level. The level finals will be held in planning week( week 9) of Term 3. Students must be present to compete in the finals and, if they are absent, second or third placegetters may compete in their stead. Judging teachers’ decisions are final. Winners will receive CL&S awards and French prizes which will be presented in Term 4.
The in-house poetry competition has been running for a few years now and its purpose is to encourage students to hone confidence, application, memorisation and oral presentation skills in preparation for high school, work and life in general.
Cordialement,
Madame Higgins
