Principal Report

Our school is located on the land of the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin Nation.

Welcome back

It has been great to see our students settle back into their classes and get on with learning in the new school term.

We want to take time to welcome the new families to BPPS. We aim to link them up with families and contacts so they can feel part of the community and get to know about life at BPPS.

Keep an eye out this term for the next Coffee Club morning and other opportunities to continue making connections within the community.

Senior School Athletics

Thank you to Phil Wickham for his organization of the Year 3-6 Athletics this coming Monday July 29th. Our students should arrive at school at 8.45am, they will be leaving at 9am and spend the day at the Tom Kelly Athletics Track, in Doncaster East. The buses will return to school at approximately 2.45pm.

We wish them all the best, we know they will have a greart day.

Thank you to the parents who have volunteered to assist on the day.

Working Bee - this Saturday

On Saturday July 27th we are holding a working bee. There are lots of garden patches in need of attention. We look forward to seeing you from 9am to 12.30pm - even if you can only pop in for half an hour we would love to see you!

Bring your gloves and garden tools - we will have coffee and sausages to reward you for your effort!

NAPLAN

Last week our Year 3 and 5 families were sent their child's individual NAPLAN results.

The NAPLAN data is reviewed by the school with results being analysed in terms of student progress, areas needing further work and also any adjustments to ongoing learning programs to support students. NAPLAN results form one part of a broader picture of each child's abilities, skills and knowledge. Our staff undertake many ongoing assessments throughout each term and students particpate in standardized tests to support our knowledge of their progress.

We will be reporting NAPLAN results through the School Council and via upcoming newsletters.

Parent Caregiver and Guardian Opinion Survey

Our school is conducting the annual Parent/Caregiver/Guardian Opinion Survey offered by the Department of Education and is seeking your feedback.

The survey is designed to assist schools in gaining an understanding of families’ perceptions of school climate, student behavior, and student engagement.

Whilst the survey is optional, we encourage and appreciate your participation.

Our school will use the survey results to assist in identifying areas for improvement and professional development needs in the school, to target school planning and improvement strategies.

All families are invited to participate in the survey.

The Parent / Caregiver / Guardian Opinion Survey will be open online from Monday 29 July to Friday 30 August 2024.The survey will be conducted online, only takes 20 minutes to complete, and can be accessed at any convenient time on desktop computers, laptops, tablets or smartphones.

The online survey will be available in English and 10 other languages including Arabic, Greek, Hakha Chin, Hindi, Japanese, Punjabi, Simplified Chinese, Somali, Turkish, and Vietnamese. Resources are also available in additional languages to assist parents / caregivers / guardians who speak a language other than English at home.

Please reach out to the school directly for survey guides in your language.

The survey results will be communicated to parents/caregivers/guardians through annual reporting and are analysed by our School Council.  Last year we used the survey results to plan our work around community engagement and communication.

All families will be sent details on how to log in, with the survey link and code on Monday July 29th.
