Learning Space 1 Juniors
Week 3 - What a Week!
“Let the Games begin in St Francis De Sales!” were the words the students in Learning Space 1 Juniors heard to begin this exciting week of learning. At the beginning of the week our Learning Space actively participated with pride in the Parade of Nations in our very own SFS Olympic Opening Ceremony. Many of our students including the preps were flag bearers at this historical event. The Olympic Spirit carried on into our lessons as well. During Reading, students inferred emotions and events of the Paris Opening Ceremony. In P.E. they enjoyed having their very own mini-Olympics games! Well done to the LS1 Junior Bosco Team as they won the first event which was an Over and Under Relay. The students are very excited about participating in more mini-Olympics games over the next few weeks. It was an unforgettable week for all in Learning Space 1 Juniors!
Have a lovely weekend, and enjoy watching the Olympic Games!

Specialist Day!
On Thursday the 25th of July, the whole school participated in a specialist day. All activities for the day were linked to the school’s term focus of history and discovery, as well as NAIDOC Week.
Our morning began with a captivating performance by Didgeridoo Australia. In the performance not only did they teach us songs like Taba Naba by Christine Anu and the Wiggles, but they also taught us different dance moves that were connected to different animals. Ganga Girri then played the didgeridoo while Baz led us in dance. We had so much fun dancing along, but the kangaroo was definitely a highlight!
After the performance the students then participated in different activities in their homegroups.
They learned about a traditional Bunurong dreaming story and created a performance to retell the story. They participated in an acknowledgement of country and then created an acknowledgement that was meaningful to them and showed their connection to the land we are on. Finally, the students learned about Bunjil and how important this creator spirit is to the Bunurong people. Each student then decorated a feather to represent their story which came together to make a giant Bunjil which is now on display and looks incredible!
After a delicious lunch of party pies, sausage rolls and lamingtons, we had a whole school assembly. We reflected on our day, announced the colouring competition winners and were treated to a wonderful performance by our choir of the songs I am Australian and Blackfella, Whitefella which was the song for Reconciliation Week and NAIDOC Week.
A fantastic day was had by all!

SPORTING SCHOOLS – VOLLEYBALL CLINICS

The students will participate in 4, 55 minute sessions. The clinics will take place in Week 5 through to Week 9.
