Year 4 Camp: Camp Jungai
Year Four - Camp Jungai
written by Evie Considine
We went to camp on the seventh of August and it was excellent fun.
What was really amazing was how kind everyone was. Some of the activities were really pushing some people, but their friends were helping and encouraging them to keep going. I hope everyone went home with a good camp experience, because I definitely did.
My favorite activity was the cultural session where we painted and threw boomerangs. We were really lucky to do all those activities, and play all those games, because everyone tried their hardest and did their best.

Camp Jungai was a great experience. The camp leaders were very responsible and encouraging. The activities included the possum pull, a nature walk (which was full of wombat burrows), a photo rally, canoeing and a cultural session. I had to go down on the second day because I was sick. For dinner on the first night they had chicken and vegetables and on the second night we had pasta bake, the desserts were chocolate mousse and apple crumble. On the last day we played a bunch of cultural games like french cricket and emu tag.

Camp Jungai was so fun,
Amazing food, the food was so yummy I was stuffed, I loved it.
Me and Harriet were in the same activity group and we had lots of fun.
Potatoes with salad and cheese and avocado were probably my favorite, or the pasta .
Just 3 days but I wish I could stay for longer.
Unfortunately we went on a 3 hour walk but it was really pretty.
Noon, we had a snack and a little play break
Going home was not fun because I wanted to stay forever.
Apple crumble I do not like so I got chocolate mousse which was so yummy.
I love camp. I wish I could go again .

On camp we did canooing, possum pull and a Cultural session with Aunty. She told us how to make soap from leaves. We also had amazing dinners, desserts, breakfast and lunches.
It was an amazing experience to have.
I wish we all could have stayed a bit longer,
Or maybe do it all over again.

Possum pull was scary but fun. It was high, but I went to the top and threw the teddy in the pot. The kids were cheering us on and it made all of us confident.
Now, my favorite activity was canoeing. It was so much fun. There were a ton of kids there and it was a bit tricky for them but not for me, well only a little bit because you have to push front and back and that was tiring.
Hiking - it was a long way up high so I thought we could see the sky but we couldn't which was sad and my feet were aching bad.
Photo rally was so difficult because you had to hold the rope, and while you found the same picture and the letter with the number on the back of the card. My team was pulling the rope it was frustrating for me. And the team with the most letters that spells a long word wins.
Cultural session with aunty was lovely, she told us a story which was interesting.
Others - We watched the Lion King. It was funny and fun and bed was hard because the alarm went off which was so loud for cabene 2. Lunch, breakfast and dinner, fruit break and lunch break were yummy.

Fun.
Fantastic.
Yummy food.
Pretty views.
Fun activities.
No sleep.
Cold.
These are the words I would use to describe camp. I had lots of fun and learned so many things. I enjoyed the photo rally most. We had to run around as a team and find little metal plates that had letters on them. We then had to write down what letter we found on a little sheet. My team won!
I had lots of fun on the bushwalk. It was cold and crisp, there were lots of leaves and fungi.
The cultural session with Aunty was really interesting. We painted boomerangs and made soap. Who knew you could make soap out of leaves! But the part I liked the most was spending time with my friends. I would definitely go there again!

Camp Jungai was absolutely amazing, it was my favorite camp ever!
We did canoeing, Possum pull, bush walks, Initiatives, photo rally and a cultural session.
We went to a closed lake for canoeing, got a helmet and life jacket each, and stood with a partner ready to step inside a canoe. Each partner got a canoe to themselves. We learnt many games, and although my hands were very tired and I was completely drenched, I had so much fun! There was a big frame with a ‘Pulley’, and an obstacle course. This was all for Possum Pull. How possum pull works is you are connected to a rope and as people walk back, holding one end of the rope, you go up. We weren’t allowed to go across the climbing frame (that was for older kids), but we did get to toss toys into a bucket from above.
There is an exact path you go along on the walk we went on, some people hated it, some people liked it, and some people loved it. You go over bridges, through forests, around campsites, following the river. In initiatives you have to work out puzzles and in the photo rally you join a group and rush around the camp, looking for letters stamped on to buildings, all while holding onto a rope with your friends. Cultural session is located in Aunty’s (the aboriginal person at the camp) art room. You paint boomerangs with pointy sticks, making a beautiful story with aboriginal symbols. When everybody has finished painting their creations, you walk outside, wash your hands with leaves and water, then throw some awesome boomerangs. Cultural evening is when Aunty tells everybody inspiring Aboriginal stories.
