Inquiry

Inquiry into Science - Term 3
Our Term 3 Inquiry focus is Physical Sciences, where students will delve into the fascinating realms of light, energy, and sustainable practices.
Our curriculum will explore how light behaves as it interacts with objects and surfaces, forming shadows and undergoing processes such as absorption, reflection, and refraction. Additionally, we will investigate the diverse sources of energy around us, learning how these energies can be harnessed to generate electricity. We will explore electric circuits and how energy can be transferred and transformed into different forms. A key emphasis will be on the responsible use of energy, connecting these concepts to fostering a sustainable future.
Lines of Inquiry:
1. Understanding the various forms of energy and their characteristics.
2. Exploring how energy is utilized and transformed to support human activities.
3. Investigating the importance of responsible energy use in sustaining our world.
Throughout the term, our children will engage in fortnightly experiments designed to deepen their understanding of light, energy, and sustainability. Each experiment will follow a structured approach including reflections, predictions/hypotheses, conducting experiments, analyzing results, and drawing conclusions.
**Special Activities:**
This term, we will have the opportunity to participate in an excursion to enrich their learning experiences:
Week 4: Wednesday, 24th July - Scienceworks Museum Visit, including Lightning Glow Show.
We are enthusiastic about the engaging and hands-on learning experiences planned for Term 3.
