As we enter Term 3, our Year 5/6 children will be immersed in a diverse range of literacy concepts aimed at enhancing their reading, writing, and spelling skills. 

 

In Writing, we will explore the dynamic world of Media Texts, where they will analyze and create various forms of media, developing critical skills in understanding audience, purpose, and persuasive techniques. 

Our children will also dive into crafting Information Reports, honing their ability to research, organize information, and present findings clearly and concisely. 

Additionally, we will unleash our creativity through the creation of short stories, exploring narrative techniques and developing our storytelling process.

 

 

In Spelling, our focus will be on revisiting and mastering all spelling rules, empowering our children to confidently apply these rules to more complex words. They will delve into the fascinating realms of etymology and morphology, exploring the origins and structures of words to deepen their understanding of spelling patterns and meanings.

 

 

In Reading, we will continue to build our reading stamina and fluency, engaging with a variety of texts that challenge and inspire. Our children will develop skills in navigating text features such as headings, subheadings, captions, and diagrams, enhancing their ability to comprehend and extract information effectively.
