What a big fortnight at TPS

Mr Hogan

Welcome back to what is going to an extremely busy term. It is so nice to see our families and students back after their 2 weeks break.

Boys to the Bush

I was lucky enough to attend the Community Bank Tongala sponsorship presentation and accept a cheque for $10000 to run a Boys to the Bush school program for both Term 3 and 4.

This will allow all of our boys in Grade 5 and 6 to attend these programs.

Boys to the Bush is a local organisation who runs programs for boys to improve their leadership, teamwork and communication skills. Our boys are picked up by the Boys to the Bush mentors and taken to various places in our community to particpate in a range of activities.

Whilst there, they are having conversations around what it means to be a good person, an effective team mate and ultimately grow up into a positive male role model.

This program provides so many great skills for our students, and we thank the Community Bank Tongala for their amazing support of this program.

Book Week

Our favourite week of the year is approaching with Book Week running from the 19th August - 23rd August.

During this week, we will be having our annual Book Parade on Monday, 19th August, a special Book Week themed day run by our Young Leaders and taking part in a special Book Week performance at St.Pats.

Girls Football

On Tuesday, our Girls football team travelled to Jack Eddy oval to compete in the inter school carnival.

Our girls were amazing representatives of our school and played extremely well in all games, coming away with 2 wins, a tie and a 5 point loss.

It was excellent to see the improvement and confidence grow in all the girls throughout the day.

2025 Enrolments

We are still taking enrolments for 2025. If you, or someone you know is looking to enrol for next year, please contact the office.

Senior Citizens Lunches

We love going over to the Senior Citizens Club every Wednesday to serve lunches for the people in attendance. Today, we served lunches for up to 40 people at their big Christmas in July, which was also supported by the Parents and Friends.

Public Speaking

Congratulations to Lana R and Ava B who represented our school so well at the regional Public Speaking competition at St.Pats on Sunday. Both girls did a fantastic job, with Ava successfully going through to the next round in a few weeks time.

Parking around the school

It is a timely reminder about safely parking around our school. The drive through pick up and drop off is a great way to quickly start or end the day.  When in the queue, please simply wait for the line to start moving, which only takes a minute or 2 and follow this around. We have seen some cars at the back of the line reversing and exiting through the entry gates at the staff car park. This is dangerous and could cause an accident, so please simply be patient in this instance.

If parking and walking your child to class, please park in Purdey or Pankhurst street, or past the entry gate on Miller street. Buses and people using the crossing have spoken about lack of visibility when cars are parked between the bus zone and Pankhurst street.

Also, please refrain from parking on the opposite side of Miller street, as we have had some neighbours mention cars have been blocking their driveways and bins at times.

Thank you for your co-operation with this.

The NED show

The NED show visited this week and shared their important message about how to be a champion in life.

NED stands for:

Never give up

Encourage others

Do your best.

This message is taught through creativity, including performing amazing Yo-yo tricks. Yo-yo's can be purchased through the office for the next fortnight. Order forms have been sent home with families.

Camps

Our camps program is fast approaching with the following camps all locked in.

Grade 2 Pioneer Settlement - September 2/3

Grade 5/6 Urban Camp - October 16-18

Grade 3/4 Murray Life Adventures - November 20-22

All notes have been sent out via Compass, giving plenty of time for deposits to be paid and existing camp amounts to be paid off.

Please note the $50 non-refundable deposit for our Grade 3/4 and 5/6 camp is due by Thursday 15th August.

Have a great weekend everyone!!
