Ruby:
The importance of our brain.
Good afternoon teachers, parents, and students. *Pause*
My name is Ruby, and I am here to talk about the importance of our brain.
The human brain is absolutely mind-blowing! *Pause*
It's in charge of everything we do, from the way we walk and talk to the decisions we make and how we sense the world around us. Our brain even controls our thoughts, behaviours, and emotions. It is impossible to discuss mental health without considering the health of our incredible brains!
Taking care of our brain health is crucial for enhancing our mental abilities, building resilience, and maintaining our psychological well-being. It equips us to handle daily stress and lead a purposeful life.
Humans thrive on social connections. Engaging with others and our community not only feels great but also has a positive impact on our mental well-being. Spending time with loved ones triggers the release of oxytocin, the "love hormone," and other feel-good chemicals in the brain. Whether it's a quick call, a coffee meetup, or a stroll with a friend, these interactions play a crucial role in stress management and fostering positivity emotions.
This is why we should be taking care of our brains as it does all these things in such short and productive time.
Thank you for listening
Jack:
Plastic bottle and bags should be banned.
Story : Imagine seeing a turtle trap in a plastic bag in the ocean desperately trying to find help because it mistakenly thought it was a jellyfish.
Hi I am Jack and I will be telling you the impact of the plastic have on our environment and marine life. About 70% of plastic water bottles are not recycled which causes a major contributor to the global plastic pollution that endangering marine life, polluting our oceans, and suffocating our natural landscapes, Although plastic bottles can be recycled, many end up in landfill and take up to 1000 years to break down. Plastic bottle production annually requires about 17.6 million barrels of oil which causes the emission of carbon dioxide due to drilling a part of the ocean to get natural oil (Non-renewable energy).
Worldwide bottles use about 2.7 million tons of plastic each year. Transporting bottled water to market produces air pollution and emissions of carbon dioxide which contribute to global warming.
You and I can prevent global plastic pollution by:
⁃ Reduce our Use of Single-Use Plastics
⁃ Recycle Properly
⁃ Participate In (or organize) a Beach or River Cleanup
⁃ Avoid Products Containing plastic
⁃ Support Organizations Addressing Plastic Pollution
The reason why we shouldn’t throw plastic bottles into the ocean or land which we mostly see every day in our environment is because as the marine animals will think that it is their pray, but it is actually the plastic bottles we are throwing and land animals can get stuck in it.
Before I conclude I would like to give you a fun fact about plastic bottles:
Plastic water bottles were the third most collected trash. Now that you know how bad plastic bottles are for the environment and marine life, I hope you will use reusable water bottles.
